He reminds me massively of Baines when he broke in ahead of Lescott. He also has the left foot that Baines used to have.

I was a big Baines fan but I can't just ignore that he's been lacklustre for well over a year now. Got to tie this kid down as if he's not first choice now, he's a stones throw away from it. You can't let potential talent like that leave on a free.

Was up against a very good player tonight and defensively felt he should have left a mark on Yarmalenko early just to let him know you won't always be allowed to run next to me without being wiped out. Set piece wise though he is so far ahead of any our other players at the moment in terms of consistency barely puts in 1/2 bad crosses a game.

I personally still think defensively work needs doing and i would still have Baines as 1st choice (although would not throw him straight in) but it just reassures my opinion that this guy should be our long term LB for many years, will be a real kick in stomach and heart if he leaves at the end of the season because the guy is a potential england cap waiting to happen.
