Didn't see the game but made up to hear/read Garbutt did well.

Big season for him coming up. Him and Ovideo will get starts at left back in the Europa and League Cup. Can see a fair bit of rotation going on with Baines, in the less high profile games.

Garbutt is ready for the first team squad, Martinez said so in the latest fans meeting interview a week or so ago.

Given that Baines will have played at the world cup in brutal weather in one of the most physically demanding roles and the medical staff perhaps cautious on overworking Oviedo, I could see Garbutt featuring in quite a few games at the start of the season especially with us being in 4 competitions.

Perhaps Garbutt might be lent out in the Jan window to another premier league team to get game time as we get to the more crunch part of the season and both Baines/oviedo back to peak fitness.

A lot of teams are short on quality fullbacks, thankfully we look to have some great ones - was impressed with Kenny in the England u17 match the other day as well.

Oviedo has played on at rb a couple of times for us mate i think, from memory looked really uncomfortable their though, and whenever he has played on the wing he has looked bang average really, his natural spot is lb

Still no reason to start trying to create reasons to sell our players

What if we mainly play Oviedo as a winger and then have Garbutt as back up to Baines for left back?

Garbutt was brilliant last night and only a hatrick from the equally impressive Redmond took the MOTM from him.

Very exciting to see the next England LB is also an Everton player.
