I would imagine that Stubbs had an involvement in this.
It is more a holding contract than anything else,it is not a ringing endorsement of the player.It gives him a certain amount of time to impress the new manager.

Seen him a fair bit like. Maybe he will for a Championship team or even a lower end Premier League side but not for us.

Why are people jumping at this story to query whether he'll make it or not? What is certain is that he's now in the greater squad for the next 2 years, and if he keeps improving then great.
People on this forum treat transfer speculation and player contracts like the hunger games..
