Lukakus successor

Considering Koeman took the risk on Van Dijk makes me think he might do the same considering all 3 of Rom, Niasse and Kone are out the door in the summer, add the EL and I'll be shocked if we don't bring in 3 centre forwards.
Yeah, VVD and Wanyama are the obvious examples of transferring success up there down here. I think though they both were very good in the SPL and Europe for two seasons before they had the spotlight on them.

He;s worth a punt...only thing is these days a punt is about £20M a pop!

Just looking at the Monaco team tonight. Sold Falcao, James Rodriguez, Martial, Kondogbia and Carrasco yet still have some very good players. Atletico sell strikers nearly ever year and they dont go into meltdown.

Its not about spending ££££ on world class players, Real Madrid proved that using that model doesnt equal success, we need a very good recruitment team in place (which by all accoubts we have) to ensure that we are building a very good team.

Think it's why we have to target atleast 1 proven premeir league centre forward so to allow us to take a risk on a signing unproven in the league, as you say a punt is £20-25 million in todays market.

For all people moaning about suggestions like Austin and Giroud they would atleast guarantee us a 10-15 goal a season striker which takes the pressure off a Dembele/Dolberg/Batshuyai type risk signing.

For all the talk of of £40 Million no chance Celtic can hold out for anywhere near that imo. £25-30 million tops which is massive money for a SPL club. Van Dijk and Wanayama all went for around £10-12 million and both were as highly rated as Dembele is.

Chelsea had an alleged £34m bid turned down mate, they can hold out for £40m as long as they want - he's their player.

"Alleged" most often is paper talk mate. Celtics board would sell in an instant for that they have no competition in their league to need to try keep hold of a player for that amount. Chelsea don't spend that wedge on a striker who's doing it in a pub league either, they have the money and pull to buy the finished article hence interest in Lukaku.

We will have to wait and see what happens, I wouldn't want to put all our hopes on a 20 year old from Celtic - never been massively impressed with him myself.
