That's nonsense. If he was bought as a squad player to replace Anichebe (as you claim, I don't necessarily agree with that), then scoring 13 goals last season would have been a MASSIVE improvement on Anichebe, who only scored a total of 18 goals in his ENTIRE 7 YEAR, 131 GAME EVERTON CAREER.

People are judging a player on a handful of games, only 1 start... it takes most players a run of games to get going. If people always wrote players off after an iffy start, then many Everton legends would never have become legends. The likes of Southall, Sharp, Watson - they all had iffy starts to their Everton careers.

I don't even mind people slagging someone off if they deserve it, but this rewriting of history regarding Kone is just silly. Give the lad a chance, a run of games. If he's still really poor after 10-15-20 games, then yeah, bash ahead.

You're fighting a losing battle. A large number of our fans are unfortunately clueless, just like every other club.

If everton signed titus bramble then clearly fans would be up in arms. After signing kone loads of us were up in arms, his career didnt start last season you know.+ he will be 32 in 2015 with a year on his contract. A transfer fee and wages down the drain.

Had a very good season with Wigan, scored 13 goals and won the FA Cup in his only season with them. Same number of goals scored as Ricky Lambert scored for Southampton that season as well. Same age as Ricky Lambert as well.

Martinez trusts him, you should too until you see more of him in action.

The same ricky lambert who so many think is a laughable signing by Liverpool? Thats your comparison?

Total waste of money is Kone and clearly if we signed lambert it would have been more money down the drain.

Hence people being glad we didnt sign Ba.

Should be announced Monday/Tuesday at the latest. Although to be honest I would have thought it would have been completed by now, heard a deal was close about 2 weeks ago.

Pretty sure this is exactly what was being said this time last week.

Either way, he's had enough time to decide now so it's sign or stay at Chelsea as far as I can see. He'd be foolish to do the latter, but then he might not be wise beyond his years like he seems to think he is. Be delighted if he signs as it'll be a real coup, if he doesn't then I'm sure we've got more than adequate back up plans. Bony being my preferred choice.

Diego Costa has just cost them 32m - anyone who thinks Mourinho will pick Lukaku instead are as deluded as Lukaku is himself if he thinks he can stay there and 'fight for his place'. Mourinho doesn't rate him, end of. He doesn't work hard enough. If Lukaku doesn't move this summer, he'll be off in January, probably on loan again, amid lots of moaning and whinging at not being given a chance (again), unfortunately for Lukaku though, we and the other clubs in for him might have moved on by then. We can only hope he realises this and signs for us in this window
