What worries me about Bacca is Roberto already has history buying a 29 year old for 6m.

Even if Kone had never got injured that was a bad move.

At a club like Everton you need to build for the future with your signings so you aren't totally dependent on the kids coming through the academy in a few years.

Once the money is spent it's gone for ever if there's no sell on value as our net spend over 5 years is always zero.

Weird to say about a big money Everton transfer, but I'm still confident we'll get him. All these latest reports of 'MOU SET TO FORGIVE LUKAKU' and 'ROM GETS SECOND CHANCE' don't address the reason we got him on loan in the 1st place, the lid doesn't want to rot away on the bench.
There's a chance he might be persuaded to stay but it's going to be behind Costa who plays 1st choice, Torres 2nd choice and after that it's scraps.

Kone has started 1 game for us, and made a total of 5 appearances.

It's ridiculous to judge a player so early based on that. There's literally no reason why, if he'd not gotten injured, that he couldn't have scored at least 12+ goals for us last season.

He was total toilet in those 5 appearances though and showed nothing to suggest he was a decent signing

A club like Chelsea, if they missed out on a target, they'd have other similar targets. If there was 3 days left in the window then maybe but I can't see them changing their plans at this stage.

The question is how much money in transfers have Chelsea taken in versus how much they've spent.

Demba Ba out £8m
David Luiz out for £40m

Diego Costa in £32m
Fabregas in £30m
Filipe Luis in £20m

Thats net spend £34m

For Financial Fair Play selling us Lukaku for £18-£20-odd million will help them enormously on their three year average.

Would mean next two year they can make a loss of 14.5million per season (then factor in our transfer money) to meet the rules.

Without our money - its £5.5million losses per year limit.

He'll be sold.

This will make Chelsea in the eyes of UEFA happier that losses are declining.

It is mandatory for Chelsea to reduce losses in 2013-14 to ensure that it remains compliant with FFP during the second monitoring period, the club will still be allowed around £38m in total losses over the 2011-12, 2012-13, and 2013-14 books.

-------------

Everton sold Arteta in 2011/2012 because of FFP. In the first monitoring period covers the 2011-12 and 2012-13 financial accounts.

No other reason. Wasn't the banks. It was due to a long term view of needing to ensure Everton can have European football revenues.

Eh?

Simply I am of the belief Chelsea have to sell Lukaku.

Its clear they're just playing a game and its clear this is why Everton have been leaking comments to the local press about being cautiously confident about getting him.

I think they have to sell one more player and Lukaku is expendable for them. Replace Lukaku with Drogba as a player coach and the fans are happy, Lukaku is happy and Uefa are happy over FFP.
