Lukaku or Rooney?

If you could choose one to have now, both aged 23, who would you take?

  • Lukaku now

  • Rooney at 23

Im a massive Lukaku fan but anyone not saying Rooney should give their head a wobble. Some of the goals Rooney scored were out of this world and created all by himself. Lukaku (goal against Chelsea last season aside) relies on service a lot more than Rooney did who had more ability to create things out of nothing. Ferguson hindered Rooneys development by having him play second fiddle to Ronaldo and burnt him out doing all the teams donkeywork. Lukaku is a better finisher I think but Rooney was miles ahead as a player and it isn't even close.

Rooney, easily. Always looked like he could make something happen, anywhere on the field. With Lukaku, you have a special player in there somewhere but you have to wait a while until he decides to be in the mood, or for someone to put it on a plate for him.

Rooney at that age walks into almost any team in world football. Right now lukaku goes missing I'd say one game out of every 3

Also Rooney was the type of player who could make something happen. If the team isn't performing Rom can be a passenger

Fwiw: I still love Rom and think he's one of, if not the best forwards I've seen play for us

Rooney was brilliant when he first broke into our team. His performance against Bolton was one of the finest individual displays I have seen.
But he left far too early so I struggle to warm to selecting him over Lukaku. Rom can be unstoppable, his performance v Chelsea at Goodison in the quarters was 1st class. But then he was Brett Angell level in the Semi, with some truly outrageous control and misses.

I just wish we could keep all our star players without them feeling they cannot achieve their dreams here.
Pretty sure lukaku would have left us just as quick if united gave him the chance

Hahaha just seen the poll results after voting.

Are you lot bloody serious? I expected around 90/10 at worst.

It's like comparing world class craft ale to a can of Skol ffs.
