Lukaku Now

Think you are missing the point of the criticism. He’ll get 20 by scoring easy goals to finish blowing out bad teams, but he’ll continue going missing in big games and United will finish well short of the title.
There's scoring 20 goals and there is being a big team player, look at Suarez, when the team was poor he would do it on his own, just as horrible a person but least he wore his heart on his sleeve. Lukaku scored plenty for us but when we needed him he was no place to be seen, for 75m you want a top player, not one who gets the 3rd and 4th to keep his tally up once the opponent has packed in.

He had spells for us where he looked like was struggling, but we would always cut him plenty of slack and wheel out the "He's only 21 years old!" line. He's by no means the finished article and now he knows that he needs to work on his all-round game. But he'll still end up this season with 20+ goals because he is an absolute goal machine and despite his flat patches and all-round shortcomings, when he gets on a streak he bangs them in for fun.

I think he's a grade A tosser for the way he's handled himself.

I'd love to see if he celebrates against Chelsea or West Brom if he scores tbh. He has no respect, regardless of whether our fans were getting at him... tough. He's a professional athlete who's pay £100,000's every week, to be exactly that, but part of the description and responsibility to handling the pressure of the crowd. He disrespected us 100x more than Mirallas ever did, but everyone hates him... with his "I know my next club", "I need CL Football" blah blah blah.

I loved the fella, but you know what? He can shove it. Nothing makes me happier than seeing City canter the league, and Lukaku on his way to a hiding. Coward.

He never celebrated against West Brom, because their fans have always been nice to him

He celebrated against us and against Chelsea because both our sets of fans gave him stick for leaving. I'll never forget his first game against Chelsea since signing for us. The Chelsea away end were chanting "Chelsea Reject, Chelsea Reject, Hello, Hello". No wonder he rubbed it in when he got those two goals in the cup later on

I believe that it's because the way he disrepected Everton in front of the camera, repeatedly?

The point stands that had we not given him loads of stick at the match, I'm almost certain he wouldn't have celebrated after scoring, because there were already examples of him not doing it when fans had been nice to him

Basically, we're the reason he celebrated, because we gave him loads of abuse, so he gave it right back

Whether it was right or not for us to give him said stick is ultimately irrelevant. We gave him the stick and he then paid us back when the opportunity presented itself

Cause and effect

That's all the events at Old Trafford were. Just the same how Rooney rubbed it in following him getting pelters at Goodison

It doesn't matter how much you like a club or fan base, if a gang of strangers are tearing you apart then it's only human to react to it. This wasn't an Arteta case, where we'd been first class to him every time he'd played against us only for him to still cheat in that Quarter Final, after which he got a load of stick every time afterwards. We baited the bear on this occasion, and he subsequently took a chunk off our arm. We have no moral high ground upon which to judge him for the events of that afternoon

Somebody speaking sense!

Much as I detested the little rat, one thing I admired about Suarez was his workrate.

Perhaps so. However, I guess if he handled his "wish" a bit better, that was to stay quiet and left without moaning whenever he was away from international duties...then the abuse from the crowd would not be that big I supposed. And yes I agree it was a cause and effect thing. It worked in both ways.

when he was here, I always noticed that he gave a thumbs up to any player who hoofed it into the flanks where its Rom 1v1 with a defender in a footrace. hmmmm I wonder if there is a manager out there who always wants his players to aimlessly hoof the ball in no general direction.
