The new guy might’ve been able to sell some players and box off our business before deadline day.
I doubt it. We had one sellable player (that we want rid of, we could sell Richarlison or Dom if we wanted obviously) and no one has money aside from about 5 clubs. No one wants to spend real money if they do have it on our dross because our club has a reputation for being bad at football. The problems in the market go deeper than Brands. So we can scapegoat him if we want and as I said there are mistakes to harp on, but it is still a top to bottom issue.

It’s not scapegoating him though is it? He’s lumbered us with half of this crap that he now apparently can’t get any money back for.

No saying fire Brands is scapegoating him if the club doesn't change its processes. It was f'd before he came and it remains that way.

Isn't that the point of the DoF to ensure the club invests shrewdly in players in players that support fulfillment of the long term aims of the club. I.e contracting players as high value assets that outlast changes in leadership at the club.

Yes but he can't do it if he isn't allowed to. Having the owner hire the manager that the DOF isn't on board with and letting that manager make choices on transfers wrecks the whole system.

You can't just spawn a loan. Players have to be available for it. Maitland-Niles was then he wasn't. That's not really Brands fault. Yes I know he could have done stuff earlier yada yada.
unfortunately he couldn’t do anything earlier. Moyes was only sold yesterday. We didn’t have a budget Until yesterday.
