2018/19 Lucas Digne

Been our player of the season by a considerable distance. Seems like our fans can't wait to have a moan.
Even great players can have off games, and like I wrote earlier, Lucas seemed frustrated during our last few games. Resting him and playing Baines was the right choice, too bad it ended like it did.
Its crazy turning on him tho, he works hard every game and really wants to win. Exactly the kind of player we should be getting.

Still don't see him making a tackle last night, he just ran after him and the Huddersfield lad got his leg caught between Digne's and fell.

Is that even a foul?

It was a foul. Digne had no complaints.

He got caught out by the flight of the ball, was really poor judgement. At least he made the foul outside of the area though. Took one for the team.

Yes, he ran into him deliberately. It’s a fairly common way to bring a player down. It looks less cynical generally in certain areas of the pitch but in that circumstance, it made little difference. Definite red.

I wouldn’t go as far as using the word hero but he certainly assisted us in gaining three valuable points.

We are playing for the Europa now & attempting to stop Big Red achieve the unthinkable by us actually winning a derby.

Was a bit tongue in cheek as people saying he took one for the team. He made a mistake, was trying to make up for it and committed a foul knowing he would get a red. Could have easily backfired and we could have ended up losing (if not for some great saves).

Got in there just before the Huddersfield player reached the box ....

Prevented a certain penalty by his actions or very good goal chance & probable different result.

Not one for praising professional fouls but that was a top drawer game saving Red card.
It was a great foul, but it was awful awareness that led to it. These are the type of mistakes we need to cut out of our game. Boneheaded errors have cost us quite a few points this season.

If we had a proper leader at the back alot of these errors wouldnt be alowed to happen, we need control back there and we just havnt got it. i think the lads a great player but his first thought cant always be attack until your sure of safety.
