You make it sound like an away trip to Outer Mongolia.

Lille ain't much further than a trip to Southampton.

And as for running the risk of picking up "a knock" in the game....he missed the first two months of the season due to an injury picked up in training before the season even started.

These things happen in football.

If he picks up a knock at Lille he picks up a knock.

I for one would rather our players were injured whilst playing a game for Everton than on the training pitch.

Or worse, on international duty.

You can't wrap him in cotton wool.

Play him in France.....the lid is 20 years old and his season has just started.

He will be bang up for it and he needs the game time.

Bobby will know if he is fit enough to feature in three games in eight days and that us good enough for me.

I would just like to add that he didn't look like tired when he came off at the weekend either. If his knee is OK then play him, if it isn't then he shouldn't have been played against Villa.

Good post.

Ross behind Eto'o tonight I reckon. Our lovely sociopathic Bosnian to roam centre midfield and do whatever he damn well pleases alongside McCarthy, and throw Geads on the wing. Thatll be strong enough to get the win.
I think we'll play the same team as Saturday except Besic will come in for Osman. It will be the weekend against Burnley that we "rest" players.

Naismith hasn't travelled with the squad, mate. So we'll likely see McGeady start on one of the wings. Also, can't see Besic, Barry, McCarthy and Barkley all in the same team. I'd wager that Besic will replace one of Barry or McCarthy and Pienaar will replace Osman.

No I just think he'll swap Naismith for Eto'o. I might depend on how Barry is feeling, Gibson might get a run out.

we should actually try play a very strong team. if we win this one then its almost guaranteeing us a place in knockouts! then we can place greater emphasis on league during that period
