8 - Everton need bite in midfield
In Mikel Arteta (when he returns), Cahill, Pienaar and Fellaini, David Moyes has plenty of attacking and creative talent in his midfield, but Everton have not had a convincing terrier in their ranks since Thomas Gravesen left. Phil Neville often fills the role, but he's not exactly the most terrifying tackler in the land. Stephane M'Bia finally ended his flirtation by signing for Marseille, while the name Joao Moutinho has been doing the rounds for some time now, and his Sporting Lisbon teammate Miguel Veloso has also been mentioned

Must be true, Sky dont lie.

that is poor research. everyone knows gravesen was not a tough tackling midfielder. lazy journo.

and he finishes off saying moutinho might come. i'm not sure he is a hard man tough tackler the article claims we need.

a nonsense article from start to finish.

We could try and get him on loan??

This line made me laugh, wouldnt call Fellaini and Cahill creative, but I think them all, including Arteta would be classed as having bite. No wallflowers anyway.

But it ties into the stuff we are hearing that we didnt bid for Mbia and we didnt bid for Cana. Clearly Moyes isnt looking for that type of player. Hes looking at a Defour/Moutino type.

We dont lack bite at all, not many teams will out muscle us, maybe none.

Was just pointing out how clueless Sky are really.

I agree with the lazy journo stuff, but Moutinho is hard tackling, thats why I like him so much, he has the full package, can tackle, can pass and can dribble.

Happy with this dint really rate him to be honest, the day of a dedicated defensive midfeilder may be at an end IMO its all about box -box the way things are now. I dont think we were ever intrested in him to be honest.

I would sleep a little easier with more of a physical presence in midfeild we missed that in certain games last season, Wigan away, Pompey away, Newcastke home and away. I wouldnt be to miffed if a slot wasnt filled as Mofro will drop deeper, but Phil (and credit to him) isnt a long term answer centrally, nor would Cana be incidently.

It was more about the price for me though. £5mill is nothing..especially when a defender such as Turner is estimated at £8million.

It is if hes rubbish mate i know many like him but i dont rate him. Would prefer if that went toward a Delph or someone.

Yes Delph has the potential to be very good. The price quoted for him though is a lot. Cana is a quality player, to get him for the price they did was fantastic business for Sunderland.

Like i say mate i dont rate him. Would far prefer someone like Christian Poulsan for a reported 4 mill from Juventus with far more expierence, everyone knows im a Barton fan to, i think if we wanted him and we were in for Cana he would be an Everton play
er right now. Thankfully hes not.

Well the market seems to be finally hotting up with Bolton making some reasonably priced realistic transfers today. If its a case that we blow our load again on a young player like Delph i dont really mind, dont think we will though.
