No he is special, because he adds a dimension most teams do not have nor know how to deal with. He is also a skillful player, which many in this role are not.

He's been sent off 3 times in Ligue 1 (only once for Marseille), and I think once for Albania. I know he has something like a 1 in 3 yellow card record, but I don't know how that compares to other players in Europe.

I'm quite sure he hasn't been sent off for a few seasons. He gets quite a few yellows but he's not overly agressive, he doesn't push it too far anyway.

Agreed. I think hes just got this rep. But I dont think hes a Roy Keane. He was just an utter animal.
