Looks like an extra 13 mill to play with!

Player Valuation: £100m
According to the independent the PL is currently finaliseing details of a new overseas brodcasting rights deal from 2010 -2013 which has doubled since the last deal. Looks like record trunover again this year - well in Everton!

The Premier League's sale of its overseas broadcasting rights for 2010-13 will raise around £1.4bn, more than double the previous level of £625m, The Independent can reveal.

With just two deals left to be concluded – in Albania and Russia – the League is assured of raising each club's average annual income from overseas rights alone from £10m now to about £23m per season from this summer.

I wonder what our average wages are now?

I remember when 20k a week used to be top whack we would pay.

I dare say the bulk of that will be swallowed up by players wages.

that.

Lets see the prem force admission prices to be reduced by the said amount, let the foreigners subsidise our admission prices rather than it just end up being spunked on the players wages, that are already millionaires.

It's the major craw that I have with football, the outrageously vast sums that the players earn, yes they are entertainers, it's a short career (they can work after it though like the hero's of yesteryear) but the sums they earn are beyond belief and detatch them from reality.

Can't say I agree with it.
I'd much rather the money was invested at grass roots level. All it does is widens the gap, and doesn't help football in the slightest.

That'll give his dastardly game away...maybe he'll get Mr Earl to register his (greens) opinion

There's definitely too much money thrown around the game in my opinion. I'd be quite happy to kick the money men out of the game entirely, and go back to sensible wages and sensible merchandise and ticket prices. The game will implode soon. You heard it here first.

I'm not sure how long this rights increase will last. It's a domino effect. The new fees paid by oversea subscriber will be pass on to consumer. Once they reach a point where they price beyond the reach of common folks(middle, lower middle) the bubble will burst and the Club/league will suffer financial backlash.

I agree. Or in the more sensibly run clubs, keeping the turnover to wage ration <60%.

For us I'd estimate that ours would even after the new contracts of the players (Saha, Pienaar tbc, Rodwell, Gosling etc) to have dropped to maybe 55% if thats taken into account...

and depending if all other areas of revenue remain the same.........

Thats a good shout i wouldnt mind seeing the wage bill drop under the 60% mark and a lot of players on longer deals.

Thats what makes me laugh about Kirkby and the only "5 mill" a year.

I wonder will we see rapid progress on the Pienaar deal now - would like Arteta tied down as well.
