Looking ahead to the summer

Get the CB issue sorted and sign a decent winger and I think that would be a good window (Obviously don't sell anyone)

Distin, McGeady, Mirallas, Alcaraz, Kone and Pienaar all to go, probably Eto'o as well. Sounds dramatic but the way the squad is I can't see any alternative other than a proper "Football Manager" type of transfer window.

Save a fair few quid on wages there if thats the case and as others have said with no european football next season and with a few youngsters making the step up I think we could manage quite comfortably without them (excluding Mirallas/Coleman who would need replacing)

We must keep Mirallas at all costs, the older squad players im fine with leaving add gibson to the list, our next few transfer windows will look something like this:

Howard, Alcaraz, Distin, Pienaar, Gibson, eto'o, Barry all out.
Marshall, lennon, Mcmanaman, Cleverley all in.

(based on rumours/papers etc)

Don't want that bell McManaman anywhere near our club.

More overpriced British dross? No thanks.

I think the problem we have is those are the type of players martinez will look at, we dont have £50m to spend on decent targets. I think as long as we keep our key players then adding the likes of Marshall and Shar on a free would be good business.

then we should go for underpriced foreign players of a higher quality then.

Eastern Europe, Balkans, Scandinavia etc..
I bet there's a few decent players in the Ukraine that want out

No good paying over the odds for a worse player.

I dont think Mirallas will go, he is not quite good enough and too injury prone to get into the CL clubs. I understand that he wants to go to Spain but I think that Athetico are the best team that might show interest and they aren't going to pay us the going rate. Unless we get big money, we might as well keep him and let him run down his contract.
I think coleman is good enough for CL and could go for big money in the summer. I would be pretty devastated tbh.
Elsewhere there is an awful lot of dead wood that we need to get rid of so I expect we will have to bring in quite a few cheap younsters to keep our squad numbers up.

Agents always work an angle regardless to bump the price up even further/speed up a process/get a clause added.
Nothing works better than an approach form your nearest rivals.

If the player is signing from outside the club, sure. But when he's a current player, the idea that he'd even entertain a move is a great way to burn good will.

Everton to Liverpool rumours about decent players border on reassuring, because they're either utter tosh or the player never "got" Everton to begin with.
