I deal with businesses every day. I think that a 6% increase in CT will make some decide to cut other costs. Be that not buying that new piece of machinery, or not take on that extra employee, or give wage increases, or make the temporary staff member permanent etc (those are only examples off top of my head in fairness).

I can't think of a 6% rise in one go for a long standing, established tax. I hope I am wrong but I am feeling a little pessimistic.

In terms of Western Europe as a whole we’ll really just be putting ourselves on an equal footing.

I don’t buy that profitable businesses will make significant cuts to their workforce based on corporation tax increasing. And one things for sure, the cuts to it have done nothing to strengthen the economy.

I'm probably looking at it slightly differently because I'm NI based and the rate of CT in ROI is only 12.5%.

To have a rate double that of the rate down the road is bad for our local investment

The 1922 committee can just change the rules and have another party election for leader, I think they would rather Truss resign than do this though. I doubt they would call a general election as all the polls have them smashed.

It’s a national outrage to be honest, we can’t just keep going from one to the next, each unelected. The damage this is doing to our country will be felt for years, we’re a laughing stock.
