Current Affairs Liz Truss

Personally I'm delighted Truss won the Donkey-Derby for Downing Street - I'm now half way to winning by bet on the identity of the next UK and Israeli Prime Ministers.

If Benny Gantz manages to form a government sometime in November I hereby promise to buy every member of GOT a magnum of champagne with my ill-gotten gains.

Note: this promise should be regarded as reliable as the ongoing Tory promise to 'level up' society and whatever else she said in her Downing Street speech, which I somehow managed to miss.

Trying to press her on the finer details, she's holding them off for now, it's taken 10 minutes but she's got to putin eventually.
How will support be delivered?
How will the support be costed in the short and long term?
What provision is beginning now to address the energy crisis in 12-18 months time?

Energy policy is not a five minute action. It’s a decades long strategy and investment. If you knew anything about it you’d stop behaving like an idiot…..

Pete you're playing games.

The Tories have had it for 12 years.

In 2015 the Tories but the hit against onshore wind power. That alone would have replaced the supply we are now losing from the Russians.

Truss hammered subsidies on solar when she was Environment Sec.

Labour granted planning consent for 4 new nuclear power stations in 2009. Under the Tories they've not been built.

This is the Tories fault. Own it!

An energy price cap of £2500 until the next election doesn't go nearly far enough, and borrowing money to give to the energy companies to pay for it and leaving the taxpayer on the hook for it for 20 years, rather than a windfall tax on the record profits of the energy companies, is bullshit.

Then there's the decision to re-start fracking.

Anyone would be forgiven for thinking Truss still works for Shell.
Robbing the poor to pay the rich.
