Reading a book by Jon Moynihan at the moment (he's in the Lords (somehow)). He's both a Brexiter and a Truss devotee (he thinks the BoE done her over). The book is on how the country can get back on track. While there are one or two good suggestions (especially around pensions and planning), there's a whole lot of the book riling against forens and the wokerati. Quite an insight.
The fundamental problem is, their core premise doesn't work. It sounds good on paper, but it simply doesn't work as they think it does.
It's not that it was the wrong time,.or administered badly, its that it's a flawed ideology. The market doesn't magically work and become rational and efficient.
They will never be able to accept that though. Even when overwhelming evidence, ah la Truss is presented to them. The economics equivalent of the Easter Bunny Frederick Hayek said different, so it's obviously true.
