I really am of the opinion that Hunt has been put in there as the figure.
It's clear he is leading the show.
The toriest of Tories is calling the financial shots now. It's up there with putting Gove in.
Gone further that Sunak, on the money stuff so that must count him out now.
The grey suits won't put Mourdant in, in this situation.
Hunts the man in charge tlll the next election. What his official role is, and will be, I think will be irrelevant.
Truss I feel just shows up to PMQ's and tries not to mess up too much.

You missed out Ben Wallace, he seems to be getting mentions from some corners. Don't see it myself as he cut the talk down pretty quickly last time and seems to prefer his military based role due to his background.

You are right, no serious candidate will want to front up for this election as no way they can win but I still think they will get rid of Truss though to try and keep the losses of seats to a minimum. They'll need someone who doesn't really want to be PM longterm but is seen as a steady hand to be seen to stabilise this up and down government.

No doubt the average Tory MP is dreading the election, whenever that may be. Hence the need for Tories to get rid of Maggie Margarine, with or without her it's just a matter of how many lose their seats.

To be fair to Liz Truss, when she said she was prepared to take the difficult decisions she never said she was willing to stick by them, just clearing that up.

It's odd that Mourdant is going to answer Starmer urgent question in parliament, Truss could be going going gone as we type.

Oh yes. It's going to be a bloodbath whatever, but with her in charge they'll be wiped out in all but the strongest Tory seats. If they get someone else who isn't going to immediately shoot themselves in both feet and can act with a modicum of stature*, they may keep 20 to 60 seats more. I can't see how they can stay on the same course and the longer it drags on the more it will damage them.


*That might be more difficult than it seems seeing they have managed to pick progressively worse leaders. You'd think they'd hit rock bottom already, but I thought that with Boris.

But I believe that the Monarch can say...gist...you have no support thus can't govern, go away and get the support or send a replacement to me who can.
