Liverpool Echo Throws Dummy Out Of Pram

I would have thought the intent and structure of the piece was very much on topic.

In fact, I thought being labelled a vile, inarticulate Evertonian, bunched together with those who like to take the piss out of people who help out disabled kids was very much valid.

The thread isn't about what picture was used, it's about the content of the article. The last two pages are you, Brennan and Day-Vek arguing about the picture the Echo have chosen to accompany the article.

I am still wondering why the echo never asked the club about the ME buyer who was sent a prospectus as told in the talksport radio show. I mean all this week I have heard about the price of the club but not one word by the echo about the ME buyer.

How strange when the Echo told us they follow up on all these aspects.

That's what i was thinking.

Be interesting to see the clubs next move now - key game tommorow, more or less the same team.

We need the 3 pts but if we falter I wonder if the local press will shift the debate to Moyes and keep him on the back pages for the rest of the week. It would keep the board out of the light and give the echo, radio city time to catch there breath.

Their task is always the same, imo: protect the owners. They'll think nothing of feeding Moyes to the dogs. In fact, they'd probably enjoy it because Moyes has treated them with the disdain they richly deserve for 11 years.

The use of the pictures relates to the context of the piece as much as the content, would think that is wholly relevant?
It really doesn't take a leap of faith to understand how the paper are hoping the words are interpreted by the picture.

Given that may have been using Harris at the time, its probably best that the ME bidder didnt come off. He was probably some random bloke from Riyadh, a biscuit-fancier perhaps.

Good post there responding to the offending/offensive article from Prentice:

Dave, Congratulations on a first !!!
Nothing of any content or requiring any effort on the part of the Echo for years regarding Everton then, you and a faceless other have surpassed yourselves with two utterly incredible articles in one week.
Astounding in the fact that this is the most fired up you been since the Hicks and Gillette episode.
Astounding in the fact that you dare to blame the boardroom silence on a handful of idiots (you will find them in every walk of life).
And astounding that you have the gall to publish this front using a 'tug at the heart strings' headline.
Utter disgusting journalism which has further proved that the criticism of the Echo by the majority of Evertonians is fully justified.
Both of this weeks articles have backfired drastically because you have your backs against the walls and have had to respond to the growing tide of people questioning your loyalties (For the fans or feathering your own nest).
Unfortunately, when you have acted the way you have over the past years, nothing you conjure up can help your defense.
People can see right through the Echos' despicable attempts this week to fend off the flak.

Spot on that.

This is even better, imo. Ouch!!

Shameful Prenno!

Your basic argument is that the turtles head has popped back in because of us horrible unruly fans! How dare we question and care about our club!? How dare shareholders demand democratic rights!? How dare people who put in 500x the amount of money into Everton (Blues who buy season tickets), question the fact that Kenwright and his chums put ZERO into the club, year on year!?
I don't remember this bothering your organisation when you were hounding and harassing Hicks & Gillett. The truth of the matter is there is a noticeable difference in the way you treat Everton and Liverpool stories and the fans who read your paper (dwindling) are getting pretty annoyed about how obvious it is that you are in the clubs pocket.

You have to ask yourself Dave why is the Echo SO rattled? Usually these feelings of anxiety (which have caused your paper to issue 2 pleas that are rightly falling on deaf ears, ESPECIALLY the anonymous one!), are caused by knowing deep down that the "offender" has a point!

Here's the simple facts....

Fact is you're never going to challenge EFC because they will ban you and City and Merseyside will get your "exclusives".
Add to this the recent Everton accounts showing that Trinity Mirror won a massive exclusive publishing rights deal with the club and we can see why the boat will never be rocked.

THIS IS WHY KEIOC, BLUE UNION AND OTHER GROUPS STARTED! YOU HELPED CREATE THEM BECAUSE YOU FAIL IN YOUR DUTIES AS JOURNALISTS.

When this board is gone (and it's totally discredited and won't last another 12 months), don't you dare write your cash in "Epic swindle" style books.

The fans won't forget your pathetic coverage!
