The Robins faced their biggest test so far this season, as they faced a trip to Pep Guardiola’s rampant City side, looking to be the first team to inflict a domestic defeat on them this season.

Lee Johnson can’t fault his lads for their efforts in last night’s game, after adopting a counter-attack based tactic that saw his men take the lead at half-time thanks to the tireless work of striker Bobby Reid, who calmly dispatched his penalty.

But, as Manchester City did at the weekend.

They fought back from a losing position, to score two second-half goals that saw a proud but demoralised Robins team walk off the pitch at the Etihad as the full-time whistle sounded.

Nevertheless, Bristol City fans caught a first glimpse at their new signing Liam Walsh after he was brought on late in the second-half, following his switch from Premier League club Everton.

The midfielder made his debut, and was pretty impressive as he adopted a dogged approach to constantly harass the City midfielder’s in the middle of the park.

Nevertheless, after the game their new signing took to his personal Twitter account (@liamwalsh_6) to thank the fans for their support, while showing the pleasure of making his debut for the Robins.

Buzzing to have made my debut tonight, Great team performance from the lads and the fans were unbelievable all night, thankyou for the support ????????

Following the player’s message, fans looked to welcome their new man as they praised his performance after being brought on as a substitute.

So without further ado, here’s a look at exactly what City supporters made of the message…

And that’s just the start….????????????????????????

..I love the little fella but I also appreciate these decisions have to be made. I suppose time will tell if the point you make is right.
Decisions do have to be made, except it seems with existing First Team midfielders, but where we really at that point? With the season already dead why couldn’t we have given him an opportunity in the First Team?

..I assume the Coaches didn’t think he was good enough. I never saw him in match day squads (not necessarily part of the team but involved for development purposes). The other indicator for me was that he never went with the squad for warm weather training in Dubai some time ago (when he wasn’t injured).

I liked his time at Yeovil because they absolutely loved him but for whatever reasons he wasn’t near the first team at Everton.

I remember years ago, probably due to being skint that when our under 21’s played Liverpool Utd Chelsea Arsenal. There teams would be full of 20yr olds, while we would have 17/18 yr olds playing.

Them teams could afford to keep a number of the older younger players, if that makes sense. And give them more time to develop. While we obviously had to make decisions at a younger age.

I thought that would have changed now, especially with funding this new stadium. And we are giving away are best young players. Maybe Walsh wanted to go. But give him a new 3yrs deal for double his money. Abs send him to Bristol on loan for 18months, then make a decision.

I think his style of play would have been suited to partnering Gueye in midfield as he can tackle but can also pick a pass. However I thought writing was on the wall last season when due to injuries there was a place in the bench available and they picked Williams ahead of Walsh.

Yes but I put that down to Koeman being clueless!
