As an old fart in his late 40s living in lockdown, my idea of celebration tonight will be to crack open my extensive football DVD library and relive Liverpool 0-1 Everton 1978 - the Andy King derby, followed by Liverpool 0-1 Everton 1984 - the Graeme Sharp derby, and perhaps Liverpool 0-2 Everton 1986 - the Gary Lineker derby, though that one gives me nightmares given we somehow failed to drive on to retain the league. Maybe I'll throw in the Kanchelskis derby for good measure. The fact that all of these can be reeled off tells you all you need to know: we simply have not won enough of these games over the years. Every one is precious. Luxuriate in it, Blues.
