that wasnt down to him, if he would have committed too early there was a player breaking down our left passed Bainsey that would have had a free one on one inside the box if the ball was slotted to him. Baines did some monstrous work in really tight spaces tonight, really put a shift in. Great pro.

I'm not so sure its Koeman but the side was a tactical mess under the other fella, Baines knew that so couldn't play an expansive game as there were holes all over the place. At least now we are playing like a proper team should, so yes Koeman takes some credit but any real football manager should be able to get a lot out of Baines, my mate (who is a RS) and was paid to play full back at a good level at creams himself to me over how good a player Baines is. He is a fantastic reader of the game
 

He was on the front foot a lot tonight. Great to see.
So often he's looking to knock it back. Being so lefty doesn't help of course.

Thought he showed a lot of quality tonight and is starting to look a bit fitter. Think it's harder to cope with pre-season the older you get.

Really looking forward to him building up a partnership with Gylfi. If they can get anywhere near the Baines/Pienaar axis we can look forward to something special this year. Especially once Sandro/Bolasie and Coleman start doing the same in the other flank.

Get in a new striker and we have lots of options this year. You can sense we're building something special here.
 

He's going to have quite the busy workload until at least January. I assume the thinking is should we need it Martina fills in at left back.
 
Three games a week isn't going to be great for him but we're a bit short on options. Never mind a back up, I think we're very much reaching the point we need to look at replacing him in the starting XI, yet here we are with him as our only full back.

Cuco Martina with a back 3, won't be the end of the world. Hopefully Koeman avoids playing him 3 times a week. 3 times a fortnight, should be it for Bainesy.
