Last season and should play less and less games as the season goes on.

Lost a yard of pace and his passing is suspect.
He should play less games I agree, but only because he has aging legs and the injuries over the last few seasons are taking their toll. Not sure who's going to come in for him though. I also agree that he has lost that yard of pace, but positionally I think he is better than he ever was and that makes up for it, defensively at least.

But he is still one of the best passers at the club without a doubt. Before Rooney and Gylfi came, he was the only player who played with his head up and there isn't a player in the premier who plays in his position that has better distribution than him.

...playing like the game matters to him. He's in the twilight of his career but he's not on easy street, he wants to be part of the 'revolution' and has bought into what the manager wants.

In the next game or two I reckon he'll be the only player in the team not brought in by Koeman.

Was thinking this before, and I suspect you're right. Mad how quickly we've been de-Martinez-ized. Few of Moyes' players still worth having around, Baines and Coleman chief among them. Just shows how poor Martinez was making our squad.

Good performance by Leighton last night. Hope he keeps it up over the next games, as he'll be playing 90 minutes in every single one of them!

..it is an amazing transformation, especially when you consider how hard it often is to move players on. It's now definitely Koeman's team and we can truly judge him on how it performs.

Was ace seeing him get forward last night.

I wonder if the foot/ankle injuries he's been suffering with the last couple of seasons have completely cleared up? Just guessing here but maybe he's back to being as fit as he can be and not carrying any niggles

Anybody remember that video flying around when he gave those fans a lift to the game?

"Da nawtiest left back in the werlddd laaaa!"

Here it is
