It goes well under the radar because of the other problems but he needs replacing as soon as possible really. Be a great back up to have to a quality full back but he's so far past it now.

Physically he just can't compete.

Absolutely ridiculous that it wasn't addressed in the summer.

No fault on Baines, but he should have been our back up LB for the last two seasons. The fact the manager has failed to get us a starting LB in three transfer windows is incompetent at best.

He's just a left back now, seldom gets over the halfway line. Sad to watch as he does look finished. His 'A' game was always his ability to get forward, his defensive duties were never his strong point. Now that he is just a defender he looks completely exposed. This is another valid reason to question Koeman............why in gods name wouldn't you have cover for an ageing defender?

His passing is still exceptionally accurate, but he hasn't been able to put his foot through the ball since the big ankle injury. The power that he used to put into his crosses and free kicks has deserted him.

He's the last player I ever wanted to watch decline right in front of me, but like Weir and Distin, I fear he's going out in legacy-tainting fashion.

Physically knackered, and will be even more so at the end of this season after playing every minute of every game in all competitions.
