Someone mentioned in the Martinez-thread or match-thread that Baines rolled his eyes after getting instructions from Martinez. Did anyone else notice this. Quite telling if true.

He's on the wane in my view but still a good footballer when on his game. Got a year or two left in him. But he just ain't on his game for whatever reason. I wonder what it is?!!

God knows where he was going for their second goal, but I think he was probably our best player tonight after Robles and Barry. Not that that's saying much.

In hindsight that £15m United offered looks fantastic now...

He can still be a great squad player but it's a position we should be looking to upgrade in tbh. Anyway, not really the pertinent issue is it.

Aye, it was awful. Shocking from all involved on the other side to let the cross come in that easily to begin with, though. And I don't know why Stones and Baines were in eachother's position.

....he's clearly not playing well but he's at his mercurial best linking with a good footballer in front of him. Even before we were down to 10 he was isolated and I don't think I've ever seen him have to play so many long balls. The team have no shape, no 'buddy's' to bring the best out of individual talent.

Don't write him off yet.

Felt sorry for him last night. As he was applauding the fans at the end, a chorus of something like "Leighton got Bobby sacked" got sang and he just didn't know how to react.

Can't pinpoint a singular good game he's actually had since returning from injury, must be hard to get over, and having no gameplay whatsoever mustn't help the strategic side of things...

edit: oh and i don't remember the last time he took a good free kick, cross or corner..
