Leighton Baines

Hull did well to keep him and Coleman quiet. Perhaps international fatigue played its part too.

Failing to shut out the cross for their goal aside, twas another decent performance. As Hull tried to force the issue more towards the end, his attacking side got into the game more which is always good to see.

I'm not convinced that he wanted to go down there at the end. Fair play to the ref for booking an apparent dive, but the way people were slipping around in the second half is evidence against the decision.

I'm undecided on this one. If he really wanted the move then surely when fergie came calling last season he would have gone then. Since then he has upped his game even more culminating in him having his best ever season last year. Moyes tried to take him to united and the club stood firm. United have made a poor start to the season and it is doubtful whether they will regain their crown, although they will still make the top 4. Baines whilst still being an Everton player has made numerous appearances for England in the last 18 months (we are hardly holding back the players' career are we moyes) and is receiving plaudits left right and centre for his performances. That saying, this is everton we are talking about and although I agree with Martinez (although an extra 5m wont replace a player of his ability) evidence suggests we eventually will sell. My only hope being is that kenwright grew a pair over the summer and wouldn't do business with united, lets hope that continues.

Baines was quoted as saying he wanted to play CL Football, supposedly....

In all seriousness, why would he go to United? They aren't CL quality anymore, so it'd leave Arsenal, Chelsea, City or Spurs as his options and i'm pretty sure they all have cracking LB's, so the next nearest quality team is... Everton. So why would he leave?

I don't understand why our fans seem to be so determined to whip up a storm every transfer window about whether he will or won't leave. He didn't go last Summer despite an offer being on the table and he did nothing to indicate he wanted a move this Summer either. There's so far been no clear indication that he actually wants to leave.

Oh, and it's October ffs

Some decent strikes here, the two from his Wigan days are beauties too.

Love the way Martinez always talks up our players...and has anyone else noticed how many times he has repeated the phrase 'We don't need the money' ? Interesting ?

Haha yeah, we'll see come the end of the season.

How did he play today? West Ham cameo aside I haven't been overly impressed by the lad this time (only by the high standards he's set himself)

Yeah seemed like he just slipped to me, but it's hard to tell. Those of us watching on television have a pretty different view than the refs.

Thought he fell a couple of time today 'a bit easily'. But he'd just played two full VERY important internationals...mental fatigue is as big a hurdle as aerobic fatigue

....Martinez has also said this club will not stand in the way of anybody who wants to leave. I reckon talks took place with Baines and he agreed to stay until either January or the end of the season. I do think, though, that his performances for England might have elevated his suitors to the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona.

I'm just enjoying how Martinez has given him the license to take on players more, which you could see especially when peanuts came on, never seen Bainesy with so much flair.

In other words, he's an absolute BEAST.

Even when he has an average game (yesterday), he always offers us something and looks a threat.

Can't imagine a situation I'd ever be happy to see him leave.
