Apparently Baines has only ever scored 6 goals direct from freekicks in the PL including the two yesterday! (Source: Opta).

just complete shock that hes stood there its genius. Then builds it up...then goes mental! Watched it about 20 times over the weekend. Also loving the fact it makes Merson do some sort of turkey impression!
Baines - freekicks aside looked backed to his best in the second half. getting forward, piling on pressure, some real dangerous balls into the middle...one in particular that mirallas decided to almost dive out of the way of instead of burying it into the net.

Did anyone else get the feeling...as Baines ran over towards the crowd that he thought about kissing the badge then thought better of it?
really thought for a second he was reaching for it then never. Worried me a bit tbh. Wheres this contract and why hasnt it been signed yet? this definately needs sorting before Jan because I cant handle it again

once Jan comes around mate and we are 3rd in the league and 4 points off the top and already booked our tickets for the Carling cup final, whilst the mancs are languishing in 7th in the league with SAF in as caretaker manager as Moyes has been sacked on Boxing day then Baines won't want to be going anywhere......well in my head that's how things will pan out!

I don't understand why we've been letting Jelavic and Mirallas take freekicks and why Baines hasn't scored a hell of a lot more goals from setpieces.
