Leighton Baines

Two things:

First of all Stubbs said these things LAST WEEK. Ask yourselves why this is now being reported TODAY. This also marks the 5th consecutive time that there has been a story reported about one of our players possibly leaving the club THE DAY BEFORE A GAME. Is this just a coincidence or a concerted efforted to unsettle the player, the club or both? FIFTH CONSECUTIVE TIME. The person who reported this, Sam Wallace of the Independent, was the person who reported Baines wanted to leave a few weeks before the deadline expired. Wallace took loads of stick off Evertonians but was unrepentant. Wallace also hosts a show on Talksport that has had Stubbs as a guest a few times. Stubbs has been Talksport numerous times in the past month. You do the math who Wallace's source was for his story.

Secondly - Stubbs. Not the first time he's undermined the club, and won't be the last. He was the one that told Rooney to go (shared the same agent). He was the one that gave up the chance to captain Everton in Champions League football because he wanted more money and went to SUNDERLAND (!!!) instead. And slated the club on the way out in the media. And then came back 6 months later, tail between his legs, muttering about 'misunderstandings'. I flicked through his book in Waterstones. He covers his departure from Everton, spell at Sunderland and return to Everton in one page.

I've always said his results as Everton U21s boss aren't good enough and that we need someone else with fresh ideas. He's clearly not going anywhere anytime soon now that's brought his mate in (Unsy, who I have no problem with). So we're stuck with Stubbs.

But to come out with this stuff that really hurts the club's stance, because he trying to flog his book and is making speaking appearances on the radio and at things like this at the National Football Museum is really quite poor.

It was 2 days before the game like......& Wallace doesn't have a show on TS

Spot on. United are ruthless at using arse wipes like Wallace to get the desired results.

As for Stubbs: I dont see how we're stuck with him. He's just a low-level coach, way down the pecking order at Everton. He's very expendable.

I'd get the soon to be sacked Weir in from Sheff United and punt Stubbs. Weir would do for Martinez as he's obviously been trying to get the ball down and play at that club and his approach wouldn't be a million miles away from what's required here. He knows the staff here too. Also, he'd be no internal threat to Martinez now he's fallen on his arse in League One and wouldn't be a serious contender to replace Martinez.

How bad is it that Moyes thought weir could be our next manager? Or Stubbs? Or Phil Neville?! I don't much go for the conspiracies but there's got to be something behind that for Moyes surely? Recommending people who have never managed teams ever.

And then we get the journalists unsettling the team before every game. Keeping the miracle worker legacy going? Would love it this year to get top 7 in a supposedly .'transitional year.' to prove we don't actually need him

He wanted Baines and Fellaini and he wants Barkley eventually. A rubbish internal appointment easily manipulated suited him down to the ground. It'd also have meant his time here would look like a golden age...which it wasn't, it was mostly boiled sh*te.

Brilliantly put. Couldn't agree more!

Because One of those would have sold Fellaini and Baines cheap, had Moyes even said anything about our appointment of Martinez.

They're Coleman and The Baines
Yes, Coleman and The Baines
One is a genius
The other's insane.
They're pacey full backs
Their genes have been spliced
They're dinky
They're Coleman and The Baines, Baines, Baines, Baines, blah blah

Stubbs should stick to his U21 coaching, this just goes further to unsettle the player and the club. Imagine how RM feels about this. Should slap him down and point to the exit. The club does not need back stabbers.

I do think though that Baines will go in January and for me we should belooking at 18/20 mill, TBH I think if we were talking of 20 mill I would say goodbye Leighton thanks for the good times.
