Leighton Baines

I'm sure Benteke agent was talks with Villa on terms, and no official bid was put in for Benteke.

Benteke was a worse situation. Benteke very publicly handed in a transfer request wanting out.

Baines is happy at Everton. If the Benteke situation can be turned around, Baines can easily stay at Everton, regardless of United piss poor bid.

Just because they've bid once doesn't mean he's going. A lot of people think the worst when it comes to things like this because of our track record, but if there is a genuine will not to sell him, he won't go anywhere unless he kicks up a fuss. Which, as many have pointed out, is unlikely to happen.

Utd bid 12 mil and we rejected it, since then no other bid has been made so theirs nothing stopping the board offering baines a new deal we dont have to wait for big club Manchester utd to put in another bid whenever they feel like it

We will be in talks with Baines agent at the moment discussing the finer details but Baines might be waiting for another bid from Man u, the club cant do nothing about that.

It doesn't make any difference if Baines signs a contract or not, if he wants to go to United he'll go. The only thing that the contract does is give us a bit of negotiation room. The decision is with Baines and Baines alone, he rejected them last year, if he thinks this is his last chance (being 28) then we wouldn't be able to stand in his way. Modern day footy n'all that

..So...I assume you mean Bill Kenwright. Are you suggesting that he profits personally from any incoming transfer fees?
Any proof?

Don't start with that Steve. We know we (BK) are not in a position to refuse big offers for players as it keeps us going for another couple of seasons. Its an vicious circle and won't end till he finds a mug to pay the asking price. Didn't see any indication to say he was pocketing any money as we know he doesn't, just like he doesn't put any money in and we are on a debt trickle to ruin.

Read the post I replied to again. We are not on a 'debt trickle to ruin'...our debt is less than many Prem clubs, and is repaid in accordance with the terms of repayment. According to some we have been on the road to ruin since the day the fan forums started.....in fact the number of times I've heard 'we'll be in administration next season...next season we'll be fighting relegation' etc etc is probably more times than Moyes ever shouted 'hit the front man' The thing is, people know this, our debt is being managed, it is not out of control, but if that doesn't suit the usual suspects agenda, they ignore it.

I know our debt is less than others but we cannot borrow against the banks anymore can we? (serious question because I am not sure). Are we losing 5-6 million per year? If we have to sell to buy then surely BK and the board are the wrong people in charge. Have they really not put a penny into the club? If that is true then they should be hounded out as incompetents. I don't pretend to know the politics but it looks as clear as day that they are not very good at running the club. Steve, you and others may baffle me with economics and the politics as it is not a strong point or interest of mine but it just looks like he and the club is just surviving by having a decent manager. Like on ebay buy something cheap then flog for a profit. Why won't he and the board try and put there hands in there own pockets to push us on. Are we financially in a worse state now than when he took over? Not trying to antagonise people just honest questions.
