League Table

Liverpool are like Norwich's bogey team, everytime they get close to challenging us they go and get done by a bottom half table side, so I am going to wait til after their next 3 games before judging how much of a threat they are.

The trophy you refer to. Is that the only one he won at Inter?... Continue

It's the one you were boasting about (first league they'd won in fourty years or whatever).

It's to his credit that they then went on to win the next two league as well, of course. Though again after the best team in the league was relegated and torn apart and the second best started the season with points deductions the circumstances were somewhat in his favour.

And at City he's had a bottomless wallet.

I don't think he's a bad manager, actually but I don't think you can ignore the context and just point at the trophies. Some clubs and some seasons are in a better position to win trophies than others. Sometimes you just have the best team in the league and you don't really have to do anything. And sometimes winning a trophy is a triumph of a managers savey and tactics.

Your entire stance is that Liverpool could catch us quickly, that's why you said you wouldn't be surprised if Liverpool 'stepped up' in their next two games.

I'm still waiting for you to explain how i'm being naive by thinking we'll get more points from West Brom, Villa, and Southampton than Liverpool will from Arsenal and City. That's ignoring the three points ahead which we already are.

No it hasnt. Never has been. Th post was I consider them a threat. Its you who mentioned "next month or two" then changed it to 2-3 games

problem with us is that:

1. we have neville in midfield

2. Jelavic has turned ****e and cant score

3. we always under perform against sides we should be beating

If you're "match fixing" and you win the league are you the best team in that league?

Anyhow the whole debate was about Mancini's ability as a manager. Hes won trophys at every club hes managed. You can not argue against this. Its poor form.

Inter were damned lucky they werent charged for matchfixing myself, in my opinion.

But in any case I'm nto arguing against his trophy haul, I'm arguing that it doesn't tell the whole story.

Tom Finney never won a trophy, Christiam Karembeu won them all. Context matters. It's not just whoever has the most trophies is better.

This unfortunately.

I'm praying for his form to pick up but I'm starting to give up. His 2 goals in the last 14 games is the reason we're not in the top 4 right now, and unless we get everyone fit and him firing again then I can't see us finishing in the top 5.

The key word this season for me would be 'clinical'.

We haven't been clinical enough when it comes to the 'lesser teams' that we should be taking maximum points from.

With huge away trips approaching (arsenal, tottenham, united, chelsea and liverpool) we can take a lot of confidence from the way we have been playing and if we start to be clinical we will kill off the lesser teams and get wins at these places (some of which we have waited a long time for).

Start being clinical and we can forget where liverpool are in the league and focus on looking up.

I appreciate this is a big if but there's no reason why we cant if Jelavic recaptures some form, and get Mirallas back and perhaps a traditional january loan move to boost the team even further.

I think Jela has looked better last few games & been unlucky not to score.
I'm not giving up on him just yet.

How can you call Liverpool taking 3 points from either Arsenal or City ridiculous?.... That itself is ridiculous!!!!

You said you would 'wager' that they'd take 3 points from one of those matches. Saying 'i'd wager' means you think it's worth putting money on them beating one of those two teams, despite:

- Liverpool not beating any top 10 side all season
- City losing one game in the past 40 odd games at home
- Liverpool winning just one game away to Arsenal in the last 10 years
