Dundalk snatched a winner in the 89th minute to go through 1-0.

Sets up a mouth watering final against Rovers.

Should be a record FAI Cup Final crowd for the Aviva!!

Come on Rovers!!

Checked attendance records for Finals and these stick out.

Highest ever 1945 Rovers1 Bohs 0 44,238

Next 1951 Cork Athletic 1 Shelbourne 1 38,912. Replay was 22,000.

At Lansdowne 1990 Bray Wanderers 3 St Francis 0 29,000

At Aviva 2010 Sligo 0 Rovers 0 - Sligo won 2-0 on penalties 36,101
2018 Dundalk 2 Cork City 1 30,412.

Can the Aviva record be beaten???

Dipping my toe in Irish football tonight, waiting for Bohemians v Dundalk to start. The D’Aley Mount IPA is a nice pint

Hope you enjoyed it, although Dalymount is to Rovers fans what the tin mine is to Evertonians.

A bit of a dead rubber as Dundalk are already Champions and Rovers are second. Bohs want to confirm Europa League qualification.

Looking like an easy win for Bozos.

The Cup Final is on 3rd November- Rovers v Dundalk.

Longford 1 Cabinteely 1 after Extra Time in one of the Division 1 play off semifinals.

Penalties looming!!

Come on Cabinteely!! ( I grew up in the neighbouring parish of Foxrock. Originally the parish Church for the whole area was Cabinteely until Foxrock Church was built in 1934).

I did enjoy it thanks mate, higher standard of football than I expected and then it was like an 80’s disco in the Phoenix bar after the match.

Sadly Cabinteely well beaten in 2nd leg so we welcome Drogheda back to the Premiership next season. Great season for Cabinteely though.

Now the countdown to Sunday begins in earnest @professortoffee !!

This should be a Cup Final to remember even if it is hard to enjoy when your club is involved....nerves jangling already.

To put Dundalk's title win in perspective, Rovers had a club record 23 wins out of 36 games and 20 clean sheets but still finished 11 points behind Dundalk who had 27 wins.

Can Rovers bridge the 32 year gap to when I last saw them lift the famous Cup???

I think this could be the beginning of the end of the Dundalk era
While we won the at a canter I think there are warning signs and Perch will need to move a few players on who haven't done the business, we need a new 8 and 10
Rovers are strengthening and I think will win the league next season if they strengthen and get to grips with Bohs!

I think Dundalk will win the cup and I have my tickets for the East Stand, same as last season against Cork
5th cup final in a row W2 L2 Cmon the Town

Best of luck Blue Rover!

East Stand also for us.

Should be closer next season I hope, and I like what Bradley is doing. Slowly but steadily building. He had a right go at some of the expert pundits in his programme notes for the final league gane against Cork.

I enjoyed that! :-)

Tickets sorted for myself, my son and nephew. Looking forward to it. Hopefully Rovers end there barren run without s Cup win.

Hard to believe Bray have won 2 FAI cups since Rovers last win it.

Yes - Rovers still way ahead in terms of overall Cup wins at 24 with Dundalk next at 11.

When Rovers last won it I had long headbanger's hair and was still at college. Now I am considerign early retirement from work in my mid 50s!!
lol

BTW I jumped the gun on the 1st Divison play offs.

I thought winners of Drogs and Cabinteely went up, but Drogs had to then play 2 legs v Finn Harps who finished second last in the Prem.

Drogs lead one nil from 1st leg with 2nd leg tomorrow in Ballybofey. UCD automatically relegated and Shels promoted.

Finn Harps won 2-0 to retain their Premiership status. Hard luck Drogheda.

Now to tomorrow's Blue Riband.

The FAI Cup still retains a special magic for Irish soccer fans which makes it all the harder for we Rovers fans waiting 32 years!!

Chris Shields' suspension for accumulation of yellow cards is a tough blow for him personally and for Dundalk, but they have strength in depth to overcome this.

Rovers don't seem to have any injury concerns and come to this with two three- nil wins to finish the season albeit far too late to bother worthy Champions Dundalk.

Really looking forward to this, and hopefully a record Aviva Cup Final crowd.

€15 for adults and €5 for concessions for Cup Finals is one good initiative the FAI have done in recent years.

Come on the Hoops!!
