League of Ireland 2018 thread

Amazing achievement from Kenny and his backroom staff. 4 league titles in five years. Respectable performance in group stages of Europa League (better than the blues managed last season). 4 cup final appearances in a row. 26 league goals from Hoban and counting.

And considering the constant rebuilding required after losing Towell, Horgan, Boyle, McMillan etc. I honestly think SK could do a job as ROI manager.

The only downside for Dundalk is the lack of investment at the ground. Stadium needs a complete overhaul. It hampers progress. Sad that we have to play European games in Dublin because of the poor standard. Also it's worth noting that only 3,500 were in attendance on Friday night. 4 years ago when we beat Cork to win the title the crowd that night was 5,300. Something definitely wrong there when the numbers are dropping like that.20181005_214419.webp

In fairness there were a fair few corkies at the title decider in 2014 and it was the 1st title
On Friday it was the 4th title against a team that brought no supporters
Remember that about 1/10th of the population of the town was at that football match last Friday evening
Seeing Dundalk shirts worn with pride on clanbrassil st, park st and the marshes rather than ManU or RS is a big move up
Good for the town to win and has a positive identity in advance of Brexit too

Don't see too many Utd shirts in the town or any other team really. RS on the other hand...

This Cork v Bohs s/f replay tonight is a pretty good game. Nice finish from former blue Karl Sheppard. H/T 2-0, Cork in control.
Going to the final in a few weeks time and it looks like it's going to be yet another Dundalk v Cork clash.

Heading up to Oriel park after work this evening
bringing some friends who have never been at a LOI match
Here's to the champions and hopefully a new record points total for the league (Bohs got 85)
Cmon the town

It's actually incredible that Hoban, Duffy, Cork's Sadlier and many other there are not on Ireland's radar
They need to get the magic plane look at young Curtis barely laces his boots for Portsmouth in the national squad. Forget European experience, league one bench is where it's at.
Hoban and Shields especially should be in the squad simply to shame the others lack of effort.
