Because I'm now an adopted Yorkshireman I'm as tight as a ducks whatsitsname and never realised I could watch for free on YouTube rather than rent or buy on Prime or Netflix. I've seen enough thirty seconds snippets on Facebook reels like the one on your post to make it seem as if I'd seen the whole film. Now I'm glad I've watched the whole thing.

'The Contractor' 2022.

We've had 90 minutes of background and slow explanation of macguffin, there's about 20ish minutes to go. We've had, 'Bourne Identity', some military ptsd commentary, a bit of 'shooter', a bit of 'jarhead', it's just not doing enough. Bad guys with accuracy like storm troopers, a story full of double cross, and how it gets wrapped up...

I'm sure it seemed like a good idea on paper, and they got a few names to sign up, but this is so lacking. Black ops naughtiness, the obvious wealthy bad guy being scum, not enough info re the job, all goes wrong in a tarantino hail of bullets, potential slow road to redemption.

hollywood is so out of ideas it can't even be azzed to commit to ripping off anything properly. A phoned in attempt at a broody moody action thriller.

1/10 mercenary scowls to camera.

Sinners.
Thought it was building well enough, allegories etc (although I was waiting on the soundtrack everyone had been raving about) until the final act. The third act is bad. Temu, AI, Cage rage attempt at 'From dusk till Dawn' bad. Had potential to be dark etc but the writing, directing and editing at the end for the people involved somebody should have caught it.

Absolutely. Just one of the many snippets you that keep you listening intently.
"Whatever you do don't mention the elephant "
It's a cracker of a movie, basically Taxi Driver in Derbyshire or Notts or wherever it is. I implore you to watch Shane Meadows' earlier work A Room for Romeo Brass; not as great as DMS, but Considine's portrayal of an utter psycho is one of the best performances you're ever likely to see on screen.

I'll certainly give it a go. Thanks.
