Code Name: Wild Geese - Moody and pensive Lewis Collins goes blowing up opium factories in The Golden Triangle while very likely regretting his failed James Bond audition. Lee Van Cleef looks to have stumbled on set from a 3 week bender, Ernest Borgnine perfectly illustrates the definition of miscasting and Klaus Kinski valiantly tries to ham up a completely meat free script.

It's kind of OK by the low standards of German/Italian Euro-War trash with quite a few 'wait..wut?' moments but pretty terrible by any other standards. Can only find a German language trailer but in all honesty it syncs up easily as well as the awful dubbing / ADR and Foley work in the English version and you're not missing any characterisation. Lots of explosions and stuntmen flying around as well so not all bad.

This was weirdly appearing in my feed lately, I think it's because I've been watching clips of dogs of war

The Many Saints of Newark (2021)

As a big Sopranos fan I had high hopes for this prequel although reviews weren’t great. Still, I thought I’d give it a whirl.

DIckie Moltisanti (Christopher’s father) is the film’s main protagonist while we get to learn a little about Tony's gangster beginnings.

It’s an unfortunate storytelling exercise though as it lacks drive and no one character has any real narrative arc that most standalone episodes of the series had in spades.

There was an awful lot of material that could’ve been out to good use but overall it’s very dIsappointing

Don’t bother.
Having that cartoon character play Silvio was an error. Thought the prison scenes with Ray liotta were great though.

I'm a big fan of The Professionals and after watching Who Dares Wins decided I'd do the Lewis Collins filmography....all 4 of them if you don't count his appearance as an extra in Confessions Of A Driving Instructor.

Got Commando Leopard on the shelf waiting to be watched and I'll grab The Commander / Der Commander when I can find it for a decent price.

Still enjoyable 25 years later.
