Sounds similar to - Jeepers Creepers.

First one was a great film in it's own right, second one turned into a teen slasher movie.

Just watched the trailer and I'm sure I've seen the ending but don't recall ever actually watching the film itself.... looks like it might be good tho

Its silly childish and a great bit of fun,more Shaun of the dead than Dawn of the dead,give it a go

I think the problem with surprise hits like Dead Snow, is that they've put all the good ideas into the original, not really thinking that'll it'll do well and they may need material for a sequel.

Big like one hit wonders, they just can't follow it up with the same quality .

That most probably is the reason,Im trying to think of a follow up film that is as good as the first surprise hit,and Im struggling maybe another coffee might help

They usually get a " named " director in, loads more CGI, a recognised actor or two and think that'll be enough.

The reality is that the film loses everything that made it great in the first place.

Thats true,I know there are the likes of Star wars,the Marvel/DC type but they are kind of carried by fanboys,even LOTR,while very cinematic tend not to interest me though I loved the books
