Last Film You Watched

Just watched Westworld last night.

As in the 1973 Michael Crichton movie that HBO's show is based on.

It was ok. Although interesting to see the concept that Michael Crichton further refined into a novel about a theme park with a disaster of Jurassic proportions (I must have read that somewhere as I am not clever enough to come up with that one my own).

The wife laughed at some of the special effects, but I had to remind her "IT WAS MADE IN 1973!!!!"

I tried to watch this the other night, but fell asleep after about 10 mins. Unsure if I can be bothered going back to it.

It was certainly slow going in the start. Picked up at the end. Yul Brynner as the Man in Black was good. And man, does he make riding a horse look effortless!!!!

Its a film that wont age well, thats for sure, the acting was as bad as the "special effects" tbh.

The concept and the story is well told tho thats for sure.

Anything with Yul Brynner in is fine by me.

Richard van Patten as the banker who become the sheriff was kinda funny. I thought the acting was typical of the day. Lots of foam tables to get broken when people thrown on them...special effects typical of the day. If you go into it not expecting a modern movie, you should be alright.

Its an enjoyable film, not disputing that, just if you were to look deeper, its bad, if that even makes sense.

It certainly hasn't aged well, unlike many old acclaimed films, I managed to watch the whole thing.

Honestly think if I was born earlier, I could have been an accomplished actor, because some of them are awful.

Watched the Big Short for the first time last night. It's been available on Netflix for a while but I've been avoiding it. I thought the film itself was excellent, but as an ex banker it was, at times, difficult viewing. Bankers lower down the food chain, like me, had absolutely no idea what the power brokers were doing, and how they basically screwed the whole world economy. And the perpetrators didn't just get away with it scot free but also received tens of millions in bonus's whilst the rest of us were on pay and bonus freezes.

So pleased to be out of that game now.
