Last Film You Watched

Watched 'Beasts of No Nation' on Netflix over the weekend.

A fairly decent and depressing film about child soldiers in Africa. It stars Idris Elba, who puts in a great performance but is massively overshadowed by the 2 little lads 'Agu' the films main character and his silent buddy 'Stryka'

It reminded me a lot of a lesser known film called 'Johnny Mad Dog' only with higher production value and feeling a little less gritty. I'd actually rate 'Johnny Mad Dog' as the better of the 2 films actually, but thats not to say this isn't worth a watch as it is still a very good film :)

Quite enjoyed Beasts of no Nation so I'm gonna give Johnny Mad Dog a go. Cheers for the heads up it sounds up my street that, especially if it's a bit more gritty.

I'm aware of him. But, I like Spiderman and the last film was gash.

Recommend a film from an other genre for me please.

@Zatara you too as well.

You might as well just go and watch it as its getting amazing reviews. For us it was just a very poor movie all round though, pretty much Ryan Reynolds reeling off one liners throughout the movie and a handful of them were laugh out loud funny...but just a vehicle for him really as theres no story or really anything to the film.

Also not sure about this supposed "gore" its all done in a slapstick way designed to be funny, not like in GOT where someones eyes get squeezed and popped.

As for other movies i like then recent ones would be Sicario and the big short, watched almost all of the new stuff but not many appealing movies out...this danish girl thing i mean who wants to watch a man wearing a dress in a cinema for couple of hours? A bit weird.

Spotlight reviews are good but what is the interest to learn about priest molestation?

All seems a bit weird to me, i go to the cinema for either entertainment or to learn something.

have you ever read any form of marvel superhero comic mate?

Yes, also quite a lot of Japanese manga. Not recently though...

What did you like about the movie? To me it felt like a Ryan Reynolds vehicle really and may as well have just been watching a standup routine....with a handful of jokes.

there were a few people kn our audience who laughed at every single joke and every single swear word which was weird....seems like a bit of a brainwashing through advertising movie to me.

Guardians of the galaxy whilst totally different was actually very funny and avengers and iron man also good for different reasons....this just seemed ridiculously bad.

After the movie we checked on imbd and saw ao many 10/10 reviews and also saw ryan reynolds had campaigned fr the movie for years also....one thing which is odd is how can he be green lantern and deadpool ? Surely needs to be one actor fr each ?

I liked it because it was a literal transferal of the comic book character deadpool into a movie.. who played the CHARACTER perfectly well.

If you don't get that sense of humour it's because you've literally not read a single deadpool comic.

Guardians of the galaxy is a completely different movie with characters that aren't allowed to break the fourth wall and it's more of a drama than it is a comedy.

So youre a comic book fan of deadpool then which is why you have the positive reaction to the movie.

i actually like ryan reynolds and fhe female actress but surely the comic books have a half decent plot and funny jokes?

I just felt it was all about reynolds than the charactee tbh.

More to the point, you might want to be asking why Chris Evans is able to play Johnny Storm in Fantastic 4, and play Captain America. Both are Marvel, both co-exist in the same universe, and if the current run of movies follow the comics, then Mr.Fantastic has a large role to play in the whole Civil War thing (although I am aware that Fox own the rights to Fantastic 4, not Marvel/Disney)
