Last Film You Watched

film4 9pm tonight.
Ok.

This film is pretty 'kin far from "Ok". I reckon he's made it off the back of his huge weight loss after 'The Machinist' and before he bulked up for 'Batman Begins'.
This film is 60% whispering, if that annoys you (and it did me!) then bin it.
I reckon Lassie would have been a better bet scoring this because the music and its use is really rather lacking.
A budget film, full of nonsense, we'd seen better in 'the killing fields', 'platoon', 'the deer hunter', although I did notice 'a quiet place' borrowed a moment.
Chronically underused cast, I recognised Toby Huss' voice before I did his face.

Avoid this like the plague, it's not 'Mobsters' bad, but it's trying its hardest. Shocking! 0/10.

Backrooms

A wonderfully odd and refreshingly original take on the 'horror' genre

Elements of it reminded me of the very best of the Asian Horror wave of the early 2000s (Kairo, Dark Water, A Tale of Two Sisters) - The very still, oppressively slow tension and creep doing all the heavy lifting alongside an unsettling ambient soundtrack

A welcome diversion from the usual Blumhouse crap that has infected the genre in recent decades.

I sometimes watch some of the “analog horror” stuff on YouTube. Some of it is genuinely creepy and well done whilst others are unintentionally hilarious with the warped faces and sound effects.

Haven’t seen it for a while but I thought it was pretty good at the time. Also this was peak Bale being insane as he dropped weight for The Machinist, put it back on for Batman Begins, dropped it again for this, put it back on again for The Dark Knight, dropped it again for The Fighter and then back on for Dark Knight rises.

Did other stuff in between all that on the way up and down but can’t imagine what that does to your long term health. Oh and then he got really fat to play Cheney as well.

Absolute nut job but a brilliant actor.

if gaining weight makes a great actor, I'd have a shelf full of oscars.
'american psycho' 'ford vs ferrari' 'the big short' 'the prestige' the batmans, even 'empire of the sun'. he's made some dross though.

we don't get enough of his life outside the studio, mcqueen bought and raced motorcycles for instance.

Thought The Prestige was a great movie, weird ending, but thoroughly enjoyed it.
