Superman double bill! I've always been a Supes fan - both of comic and film (hence my username) - so why not!!

Superman (2025) - I really like this film. The obvious references to a current conflict placed Superman on the right side morally. I like the fact the filmmakers remembered Superman can talk. Christopher Reeve as Superman had endless wit, puns and charisma, which actually makes sense given he's a reporter. As did Dean Cain as Superman. Yet Brandon Routh was dealt one-liners, miserable staring and this was really doubled down on with Henry Cavill. Casting was spot on, especially Superman, Lois & Lex. The music was so nostalgic. The really cool thing is there were moments that were very Reeve, very Cain and very Cavill. Looking forward to the sequel. 8 or 9/10 (CGI loses points).

Superman (1978) - One of my favourite ever films. It's absolute genius in every way possible. One thing that really stuck out on this rewatch was the genius pacing. Once Miss Teschmacher rescues Superman you get a solid 15/20 minutes of almost mini-scenes of Superman saving people, kids on buses, electric plant site workers, Jimmy Olsen and finally saving a village from flooding... followed by the inevitable scream and time reversal, again to save a life. No superpowered villain to fight, just constant fast paced heroic acts. Intentional or not, I've always found it interesting the end of the film is Superman stopping an Earthquake, after we watch at the start a Kryptonquake of falling crystal monoliths kill the Kryptonians. 10/10.

watched The Drama

i thought it was a clever dark comedy film with decent acting performances by zendaya and pattinson

i would give it a 7/10
Its interesting how they picked a British person for the boyfriends role, his disconnect for how bad it is is probably how most British feel as it is impossible for us to relate too. For Americans, it is possible they most know someone with even a slight involvement in a shooting

I actually didn’t even consider that because he is British he probably wouldn’t be able to relate to the school shooting situation as much as the others however I actually think he handled the situation the worst out of everyone to be honest. For example there is a scene where he lies in order to try and get people to like her again by saying that when she was young she witnessed her neighbour die in a car accident and never got therapy even though she explicitly stated that she didn’t witness it and it had no effect on her. He spirals completely out of control and becomes worse and worse as wedding approaches.

There are so many layers to the film like how she was so laid back about the DJ smoking heroin and not wanting to sack her whereas he was fixated on getting rid of her and then when they confronted the dj at the wedding about it there was a complete role reversal where she ends up sacking the dj and he is the one trying to forget about the whole incident. It’s also funny how the whole conversation about sacking the dj led to everyone revealing the worst thing they have ever done. If she had simply agreed to sack the dj then that whole conversation would have likely never happened. It’s also somewhat ironic how every single persons worst confession actually affected someone physically or mentally except hers. She didn’t actually do anything to anyone and yet she got the worst reaction.

The scene where the wedding photographer keeps saying shoot shoot shoot shoot was genius.

The scene where the replacement dj makes the loud bang sound by accident during the brides fathers speech was genius.

The mirroring of her pulling down his pants early in the film which is her way of trying to lighten the mood and then he does it to her and ends up headbutting her was genius.

The mirroring of her discussing early in the film about wanting to go to their local diner for a burger after the wedding has finished and then them meeting at the end at the local diner and basically restarting their relationship again was genius

Then there is the mirroring of their song which she tried to play at the dance rehearsal and then after the wedding he plays the same song on his Spotify on his phone

There’s just so much clever mirroring in the film

Yeah, I reckon it would be quite a good film to watch again once you know everything.

The replacement DJ was a great character, they should do a TV series around him hahaa

Watched 1978 superman with my 4 year old a few weeks back, first time I’d seen it in probably 30+ years. The first ‘reveal’ when CK turns into Superman in revolving doors to rescue Louis in the Helo took me right back to my own childhood.

The SFX for his sprint along side the train as a teen hasn’t aged well mind!
