Come and See is so traumatising, I think the main difference between the two is one is army v army while the other is soldiers v civilians, a whole different level of grim.

I wanna see this version, I actually re watched the 70s version recently, which is also worthy of a watch.

Oh I definitely agree - Just felt like some of the shots in this were almost directly lifted from that film

Rather odd choice to use some heavily electronic elements in the soundtrack as well

I think my main issue with it, was how beautifully shot it is. The landscapes looked amazing, for full on battles. Each day looks around 10-14 degrees

Come and see is just grim and cold, and looks like it's -7 all the time

The Thin Red Line gets away with it as it's more about the nature

Loved it. Peter Cushing was awesome in this and the women were beautiful. Proper hammer horror this. 8/10

Couple of foreign films for me recently.

Holy Spider: an Iranian film based on true events 20 years ago. About a serial killer. Pretty good I thought. Potentially a good look at the sickness in Iranian society, although those who made it are not actually based in Iran so perhaps not to be taken fully at face value.

Happening: French film about abortion in the 1960s. Excellent I thought but a very difficult watch.

Watching a film now on ITV4 called Acess High. It's about WW1 Flying aces in France. I don't know how I've never seen it before. It is brilliant. Stars Malcolm McDowell, Simon Ward, Peter Firth and Christopher Plummer. Made in 1976
