Last Film You Watched

A serious sympathetic film about an asylum seeker's journey to the UK and the mutual empathy he has with an immigration officer. A timely reminder that, as humanity staggers from one mess to the next, yesterdays big news stories remain problems awaiting solutions...

Few things Ive watched this week.

I caught Misbehavior at the cinema, was the last thing on, really i only went just to go one last time for a while haha but the film was ok, bit slow at times but it was an interesting story and i don't mind Keira Knightley, what was good and something i really like with true stories is they showed the actual people at the end who disrupted the Miss World 1970 event, which is what it was about.

The Ritual, about a group of lads who go hiking in Sweden and get lost, in some parts its a bit like Blair Witch, i really enjoyed the first half hour then it turned into a horror film, the bit when they are hiking is great, making novice mistakes such as only having one compass between 4 people and heading from one point to another thinking its a good idea to just head straight there through the woods, big mistake haha

Only the Brave, this is great, about these fire fighters in the USA, based on a true story. Now i didnt know the story, so i had the benefit of suspense not knowing what was going to happen, no spoilers but if you like disaster type films highly recommended this one. Kind of a please dont let that happen type situation and it does, its a bit moving, i like films like that

Foxcatcher, this is very very slow but also interesting, based on a real guy, i was put onto this after watching Dark Waters as its about a member of the Du Pont family, some real weirdo who is obsessed with wrestling, long and slow but interesting too.

The Summit, documentary film about K2 and a disaster when a bunch of climbers died, this is really good and including footage they took themselves and a few re-enactments, bit like that Everest film, great if your interested in mountains

There’s a documentary on Netflix about the story behind foxcatcher which is really good. I loved that film.

I’ve seen the ritual and thought it started off promising but faded badly.

Watched Contagion last night. Actually a decent watch now. Little things like touching face, personal contact, how it moves around in the early stages, are all in the movie which you wouldn't really pick up on if not for current events.
I'm not sure I'd recommend it to anyone anxious about covid-19, because while there are a lot of big differences - like mortality rate being about 30x higher in the movie - there's a lot of similar terminology used by officials in the movie and IRL right now.

Diego Maradonna documentary/film last night, well worth a look. His life at Napoli links with the Camorra, coke addiction, all laid bare. Considering his dishonesty, over the years, this film seems to get into the real Maradonna, and his complexities .

Watched some of that, not bad at all, showed the murky side of Italian football in the eighties. Cynical challenges on him by defenders, who just looked intent on hurting him, couldn't half ride a challenge, incredible level of gravity and so strong. Thought the fan behaviour, towards Napoli was disgraceful, by Juventus and Inter Milan.

"Whiteboy" more documentary than film, about "whiteboy Rick" a so called drugs baron in the Detroit area, as usual Netflix do it just right as they do with this type of thing, very interesting story involving all types of law enforcement, politics, stitch ups well worth a watch
