Last Film You Watched

Watched "Fracture" with Anthony Hopkins and Ryan Gosling
Hopkins shoots his wife but will he get off by representing himself in court?
Hopkins has a strange Irish/Scottish accent that is totally out of context in LA
He apparently works as an air accident investigator and builds complex machines with brass slides and glass balls (we see them but they are irrelevant to the story, the producer must have got them cheap)
I found it risible and the twist quite predictable, Mrs Prof didn't like it

Thought it was ok myself. I took the complex machines to mean that here is a man who plans everything down to a fine level and how far he plans ahead and takes into account the changes that can cause differing outcomes. All except one anyhow ;)

Dunkirk - Very good and the differing timeline mechanism worked well with little glimpses of "future" events. It's a great decision to have the events and situation be the main themes rather than delving into the characters. That said Mark Rylance still manages to act circles around everyone.
Really do regret not getting round to see it on IMAX though.

Ghost In The Shell - Nothing startlingly original with the themes but it's fairly decent. So far as Scarlett Johannsen sci-fi goes it's way better than Lucy but nowhere near the quality of Under The Skin.

And so you should. I saw it in IMAX and thought it was quite superb. I went and saw it again a couple of weeks later on a standard screen and it seemed less impressive.

Yep, the film is at its best when it's pounding your senses, the format you watch it in is important.

Watched Aliens last night. Seen it a million times but it really is a masterpiece. Paul Reiser.

"I'm from the company, but don't let that fool you, I'm really an okay guy"

watched "Joy" on Netflix, pretty good, the David O'Russell crew from Silverlinings Playbook and some from American Hustle. Joy is Based on a true story about how a woman invented a new product and got on QVC in the 90's and made millions and the people who tried to stop her along the way and steal it all from her.

Also watched "Cloverfield Paradox" on Netflix, I enjoyed it, I have seen the other 2 cloverfield films, but its not essential to this that you have seen them to see this one. some bits are just bonkers, but I liked that

I watched a bit of Mute on Netflix, its difficult to get into but its weird range of actors has me intrigued.

Cinematic perfection.

It's so bad in almost every conceivable category. The script and dialogue, the acting, the story (which made no sense), J Law's terrible Russian accent. It almost seemed to be written purely as a vehicle for Jennifer Lawrence to get her baps out, which she does, but I've already seen them and don't care.

lol

I`ve seen them too and I`d like to corroborate the fact that they are tremendous

That alone is worth the price of admission

She's not even 'wow' level attractive...

Cant see why she's getting all these roles...
