Last Film You Watched

Bedknobs & Broomsticks...what a lovely fluffy film, the cartoon football match is brilliant. Angela Lansbury's an actual milf. Nice songs too. Even the Nazis were alright. And was that Bruce Forsyth?

Watched this on Film4 over the weekend.

Had very good reviews, but it’s one of those horror films that’s most effective when relying on suspense, rather than visual shocks.

A young couple, move into a remote farmhouse, in the middle of an ancient forest in rural Ireland, with their infant daughter.

Very ancient bad things live in the forest and want to take the little girl and the women for their own.

The all British / Irish cast is excellent, the setting is excellent, but the film falls a bit flat once the film moves from creepy suspense to all out horror.

Worth a watch if nothing else is on, late at night.

Gave The Last Jedi another go. Just confirmed my thoughts after the first viewing - dull, grim, no sense of adventure - difficult things to achieve for a Star Wars movie.

Watched this last night on BBC 2.

Excellent ultra dark comedy and quite disturbing in parts, with a faultless performance from Brendan Gleeson.

Brendan Gleeson plays a world weary, but decent priest in a small coastal village in Ireland. During a confessional, a parishioner tells Gleeson, that as a boy, he was ritually abused by a priest and intends to murder Gleeson in revenge.

Think of a very dark version of Father Ted and you’re getting there.

If you are into your black comedies watch this. I don't know but maybe you have already. It's from 1997.

Saw I, Tonya at Odeon Screen Unseen last night. Good sports biography. Funny in parts, sad in others, doesn't really judge one way or the other and presents different sides to the story in certain places, so you never really know who's telling the truth, so you have to/can make your own mind up. Some really good performances from Margot Robbie, her husband, his mate, and the actress who plays her mother.
