Would be a good deal for us, but I'm very wary of this kind of speculation. I've a feeling that we're going to be linked in the next few weeks with every striker who's available, or unavailable, or has two wooden legs.
 

What a deal this would be, probably the only player out there who could replace the Yak and perhaps maybe improve things overall. An absolute quality player, i had the prvalage of following his career up close at Glasgow, and was no surprise that he moved on to bigger and better with Barcelona and Man U winning the CL (Almost Single Handedly) and Prem Leauge.

I would cream myself if this came of. As for age, well the comparisons with Sheringham are very approriate but Sheringham couldnt lace his boots. He is a compleate footballer and what he has isnt age specifc its undoubhted class, finishing, techniuqe, movement and vision. Its not and wont be about how many goals hed score though he will score its undoubhtedly what he will bring to the team in terms of chances and overall play. Did anyone watch the Euros still head and shoulders the best player on the pitch in nevery game he played.

Id love this to happen, clutches Home Shirt to get Larsonn on the back
 
He's still 37 years old playing in a no-mark league for a few seasons.

No one doubts he's pure class. But sometimes there's a reason why most footballers finish their careers around 35 -- they just cant handle the pace.

In 1994 he was instrumental in Sweden winning a bronze medal at WC in USA. 12 years later he provided a spark off the bench and 2 assists for Barcelona, helping them winning Champions League. A few months ago he played at EC and still looked decent. This tells a story, you don't lose your class, and he still can run and work hard during the games.

Erm, this is a discusion forum, not an awards ceremony. There's a difference.
Would indeed be fabbo if the old chap can leap off the bench like a spring chicken and pop them in the back of the net like it was 1994 all over agin.
Sadly the chances are against it. The older you get, the more prone you are to injury. And there's nothing more embarassing than the ruptured ego of a player that's clearly past their sell by date desperately trying to prove otherwise. For every Sheringham there's a dozen Gascoignes.

I've nothing against him coming on some sort of pay per play deal as long as we make an effort to bring someone else in who has more long term potential. But I think it's silly to expect him to be anything more than a vague cameo at best. Not to say a huge waste of money to offer a fixed contract.

Its a fair point mate, but i have heard it so many times, i suppose you have to understand Larrson as a player, he very much is the type of player that instead of working harder, works smarter, what he looses in legs he makes up for in movement, vison techniuqe and ability. He has the ability to make the key pass, get into postions, deliver, finish amd pull defenders all over the place. He wont run around AJ esqe but his viewing of the whole game and understanding of the same is pricelss.

This ability is why players like him, Sheringham and Beardsley can play effectively at the top level well in their 30's. Ok he wont be here beyond the end of the season, but does he really need to be with Saha, Yak, Vaughan, Anichebe, Baxter et al.

I mean Maldini's been to old for the past 8 years, Del Piero and a few others i can mention. He wasnt dumped by Barca they offered him a small fortune to stay when they realised just the player they had on thier hands. He returned to Swedan to because he made a commitment to his home town team that he would play for them before he retired, and also for his family, Incidently he did that and won the Prem too with Utd, he was to old then too. Just read his comments about why hes thinking of moving form Helensborg because they dont match his winning mentality.

He and Saha would be awsome together.

Ok, i am from Sweden, and i have followed Henrik Larsson the last year, and he has without doubt been the best player for the last season in this [Poor language removed] league. When it comes to injury, he is a unique player, he got injured this autumn, expected back after a few month, but was back way ahead of that. So for injuries, he is not a Saha. He scores goals, but not as much as before, but the impact he has on other players is immense. He get other players better. He is the captain of the swedish national team, Zlatan Ibrahimovic prefers to play with him.

He can easyli go 70 minutes / game, then one of the youngsters can play. The reason he went home was that his kids where about to start school, and he wanted them to be in a swedish school, and he also wanted to win the championship with his hometown team. that didn´t happen, and i know that he is somehow dissapointed on thet team, so i think he is willing to give it a try. Unless he make a carrier as a player in floorboll:o.

Negative: He isn´t as fast as he has been, pace missing. But that´s it.

That's a very useful contribution. But how does the Swedish league compare to the English premiership? If he can do 70 minutes there how mnany minutes could he do for us?
 

The Echo speculate that Nugent may be a more realistic target than Larsson. I hope not. Any name being suggested has to pass the Lukas test - would I rather see Moyes playing them than giving young Lukas Jutkiewicz a chance. And for me Nugent doesn't pass the test.

You misunderstood me. He do 70 min in PL, then we can let Jukebox or Anichebe play. He play 90 min for the national team.

LOL Nugent! What a let-off that was when we didnt sign him. Its the only thing pudit maestro and general cockney tw@t Paul Merson got right when Pompey signed him -- he's [Poor language removed] and scored 1 good goal against a [Poor language removed] side in the Championship, waste of money.

I'd rather Yak play full-blown injured that give Nugent a sniff.
 
Absolute no to Nugent. About Larrsen could be problems if Moyes tried to use him as the lone striker in 4-5-1 when pace problems may show.
