Larsson

A better move than wasting money we don't have.

As for being too old, Tugay's 38 and banged one in for Blackburn the other day and Sheringham scored more than a goal a game for West Ham for 2 seasons when he was 39 - Larsson's no doubt in better shape and could easily still do a job in the Prem.

Tugay dont play week in week out and looks like a Sunday league player that cant keep up with pace. Sheringham the same, they never play all the time.

So what are we going to do? Get Larsson in to make 10 minute cameos here or there, or do we need someone to play week in week out with quality?

He is waaay too old for me, but [Poor language removed] it, we might as well have him if he wants to come. We might as well get a bunch or 35 year olds out of contract if thats the case.

I'd be cheeky as [Poor language removed] as ask the [Poor language removed] for Ryan Babel on loan. He's gold and never gets a game, can play as a striker too.

Never happen but we can always ask haha.

We're skint, and he's unlikely to turn his nose up at £20k+/week, so most likely scenario is he's already on his way.
Equally likely scenario is that the first time he trots out onto the pitch he trips over his own ego and is ruled out for the rest of the season.

Regarding Sheringham - he was a late developer. He'd played nearly 250 first team football over 8 years by time he was picked up by Forest in 91. And it wasn't until he moved to Spurs the following year that he really started making an impression.
We should be looking for that kind of player while they're still under the radar, not after they've flown through it and landed.

Short term, pay as you play deal would be ok. I'd like to see Vic given a good chance though and worry that he'd be back on the bench to give Larsson a run.

That's what will probably happen when the January window closes. Saha, Larsson (maybe), then Vic in the pecking order. He's probably got a few weeks to prove himself though. I'd like to see Baxter and Jukebox having 20mins here or there also.

I hope Moyes et all just dont waste their time trying to get a striker. We need a wideman/CM, there's plenty of good youth out there dying to get loaned.

Greaaaaaaaaaaaaaat...The transfer rumours are back. I just wonder how many of the hundreds of reported targets we will be linked with, will actually sign for us. My guess would be zero. Larsson is too old but experienced and i feel signing him short term would help our current injury crisis.

Could be worse, and he would provide great leadership. I think the kids in the squad would also benefit from having him around. I know he's knocking on but I reckon he's got one half season left him.

I think he could help keep us afloat while we have so many injuries. Not many other options that wont cost a fortune right now. One thing he can do is score. Just might be the right thing in the short term (y)

I can understand you not liking a deal like this, but there's really no need for disrespecting one of the best european forwards of last 15 years. In 1994 he was instrumental in Sweden winning a bronze medal at WC in USA. 12 years later he provided a spark off the bench and 2 assists for Barcelona, helping them winning Champions League. A few months ago he played at EC and still looked decent. This tells a story, you don't lose your class, and he still can run and work hard during the games.

If Saha's injury is not serious, Larsson can be a perfect addition for the rest of the season. It would also help tremendously in development of young players, too bad for Vaughan that he probably won't be part of it...

Yeah, its all well and good saying he's a class striker etc for the past 15 years, but what's his record been like since he left Man Utd? Has he been playing week in week out, scoring goals?

I thought he was retiring last year.
