Landon or Donovan or both or non?

He'll be 31 then, so i'll change my decision from a yes to a no. I'd rather spend the money on a young lad than waste valuable wage money on him.

Cahill on loan is so incredibly stupid an idea I'm not sure how it's been suggested so many times.

We sold him because he was awful. The only reason not to sell him was sentiment, which has rightfully been avoided. Getting him back on loan is a terrible, terrible idea. No, it's not even an idea, it's just a neurotic brain fart.

Donovan? Hmmm, well I think that boat has sailed. I've had enough flirtatious loans and I'd rather us save our cash for players who will play for us for seasons, not weeks.

Think it is more to do with Cahill hinting at the possibility. Wishful thinking on his part, I hope.

Our situation was fairly dire when he came on his two loan spells, and he delivered. I don't think our situation is quite the same at the moment. The terms would need to be overwhelming in our favor for him to come back, for it to make any sense.

MLS don't want to sell him, and he doesn't come here to stay match fit. If anything, the guy needs a break.

Cahill no. Donovan only if its permanent. Getting tired of Landon coming in and having his 2 month MLS tune-up in England without committing.

You sound like a bird who's not happy with a drunken fumble anymore and wants all or nothing!

At the end of the day the African cup of nations are this year so we will loose pienaar for a period. Who better than Donovan to come in temporally if nessesary to add more to our wide posistions.

Don't get me wrong would like him on a perm but if it can't be done so be it.. I'll happily take a loan to cover ACON.

1. Donovan - now we have Mirallas on the right I don't see the same urgent need for Landon anymore. As a squad filler for injuries, given he can play off the striker also etc. then OK if we find we have more injuries nearer to Jan. Otherwise let's look for a long term younger back up for Mirallas with any money we have rather than another loan of Donovan which I am sure is not cheap
2. Cahill - just simply NO. As well as the 3 games he would have to miss, why spend money on a loan for someone who was once a leader in our dressing room, in training and on the pitch. It will be difficult for him to just be a loanee squad player after the status he had before, as well as being uncomfortable for some of the players still here from his time who have moved up in the pecking order. When you have been a legend and so influential the rule should be to never go back in the same capacity (only as a Manager or Coach) - it always ends in tears. Besides on pure footballing terms he just hasn't got it anymore for the Premier League nor the way the Blues have been playing this season so far.

Donovan has been a great loan the last couple of times. Brings a freshness to the team at a important time of the season when injuries are more likely.
Would take him back in a flash but Cahill for as much of a legend as he is I feel is better to be remembered as that. Wouldn't bring anything now I don't feel

Think anybody who wouldn't take Donovan on another loan is taking big drags from the crack pipe.

Good player mate, no doubt about it, but would he get in the team at the moment ? If not would we want to pay his wages to sit on the bench ?

Probably best to see how the squad is injury/form wise at Christmas and take it from there.

No Pienaar and Anichebe thanks to ACON leaves us needing another attacking player. With them both gone we'd have:

Howard
Hibbert Jags Distin Baines
Naismith Gibson Fellaini Mirallas
Jelavic

We'd only be an injury to Jelavic away from having Mirallas up front and Gueye on the wing, or Mirallas on the wing and Vellios up front. We're still a small squad.

And if he did come here on loan he'd start every game, not just because Moyes loves him but also because he should, he's f***ing boss for us.

Fair point on ACON. I'd forgotten about that. Might lose Gueye as well ?
