Landon Donovan

The Americans are bringing some great terminology to us already. Borderline lethal assassin sniper practice-squadders. GET PUMPED

Where's PGHEverton when we need him? (Danny, any way that you can find that thread from over a year ago with that guy? Pure comedy.)

I can see him being used everywhere to be honest. I think he will try him on the wing and drop Billy more central and he will defo get games upfront, with his running he would suit our style of lone striker.

This.

Hope he isn't used like AJ, ie. to chase hoofs (hooves?) into the channels. There's far more to his game than pace.

Don't think he'll do that as he doesn't really do it over here either.

By the way, I got to thinking about this more and more today after the deal was announced and I'm really excited. Those of you in England have no idea how closely this is going to be watched by Stateside football fans.

This is BIG from an American perspective. Several different camps here:

1) Those who want to see how another American does in a foreign league.

2) Those who want to see how Landon does for his 2nd time in Europe (Munich doesn't really count)

3) Those who love Landon and will follow his progress anywhere.

4) Those who hate Landon but will still follow his progress anywhere.

5) USMNT supporters curious to see how he stacks up.

6) Those who are ardent MLS supporters (like me) who want to see one of our best in one of the top leagues in Europe.

There are so many different angles to this story and the best part is that Everton FC is at the center of all of them. We WILL pick up some new supporters over here regardless of how Landon does. I can assure you of that.

January can't come quick enough for me.

...oh, and you guys can keep your stinking mittens off of our Stuart Holden.

He's ours I tell ya. If we lose him, the Dynamo are in a world of hurt.

come on TX, you know Stuuuuuuuu is going to Rangers

anyway, once Landycakes gets a number with the Blues, I'll be getting myself a jersey

I was wondering does any body have Everton TV and do you think it's worth it? I am thinking of getting it, does it play the games Live?
Thanks

Oh I'll bust out a bunch of nuggets for you Limey cats over the next couple of months, just keep paying attention! Let's feed stereotypes, HOORAY!

I quite like the dude who dropped in the word Roster.
Funny that that is the word you pick out. Do you guys not use that word? What do you use to describe your team? Squad? Chap? Bloke? (stereotypes!!!!)

Completely agree, TX. I'm a little bit of all of those, but mainly part of camp 6. I'm not really an Everton fan per se, just a soccer fan that came here specifically because of my interest in watching Donovan's performance in the EPL. Now, this board has rocked thus far and you guys are all pretty rad, so maybe I'll stick around and generate some loyalties to Everton. I don't really have an EPL team I root for, but I tend to watch Fulham, Aston, Everton, and Hull games for the extremely obvious reasons. b)

Everyone makes the Rangers reference, but at a salary not much more than what he's going to make in the MLS next year, combined with Beasley's not-so-great experience there, I don't know if Stu is as open to the Rangers as all the speculation has him be. I mean I know he was born there, but heck, I was born in Houston and have ZERO desire to go back to that cesspool. (sorry TX! :D )

Speaking of Beasley, anyone see his left-footed shot over the keeper from the corner of the box? It was up for GOTY on Sky Sports but obviously will probably lose out to Figueroa's masterful shot. (y)

Hi 5 me man.

We always say squad for the squad. The actual team is usually either the team or the side, or at a push the lineup or the XI. You would get away with roster in some sports because of the US influence, but not really in soccerball.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooOOOOOOOO!

Teach me some Team US songs/general behaviour man, I want to fit in.

Who do we hate?

In North America it's not a queue, it's a line up.
