Landon Donovan

Saw him a lot in '02 when he played for San Jose/MLS

For me, I defer to David Moyes. I do it a bit reluctanty this time. If he thinks he can help, and it's a loan deal, bring him in - I guess. Ives is a very creditable reporter.

Donovan's been touted as the American Hope for several years. My cousin said the obvious back in 2002 when I saw Donovan play every home game - "If he was any good, he'd be playing in Europe." He was actually on loan after loan to SJ after washing out in Germany.

Personable guy, chatty, bilingual - reporters covering Everton will love him. He seems a bit affected. I haven't seen him play since 2002.

Thought I'd seen the last of him, but if Moyes likes him...

Sometimes Moyes signings often start as loans, no?

I am trying to be optimisic about Donovan's loan deal. I haven't seen him in several years and there are undoubtedly those who have followed his career much more closely and have better (and more accurate) information.

Some surprises:
Carsley surprised...No one was very thrilled when we got him.
Richard Gough came (back) from the MLS and had a fabulous season...
Martyn
Arteta...who here was resolutely in his corner when we signed him? Loan deal, if I remember correctly.

Etc.

Sure, there's Andy VDM and a few others...the Scandanivian defender now in Italy...forget the name...

But overall, Moyes' signature is he has made the most of what budget the board has given him, right?

Maybe the Donovan loan will be one of those? I just want to know why he's stayed in the MLS so long if he's so good. Curious - not trying to start World War III.

With Yakubu on loan in the championship and the other one being Saha, I'd say he has a good chance of getting a game.

Though apparently he plays better in the Cahill/Fellaini/Pienaar/Bily role....

When this going to happen like? Sounds like bollocks.

I know...lets get rid of our top goalscorer and our record signing striker for a untested MLS player who wont be playing for the entire season.

A good post here, are you a computer?
