Lack of fight and playing for the shirt

Not sure why you're being so pedantic but in analysis you separate different aspects from one another all the time...
If you read through the thread the subject matter has been covered in any case.

Ok if you wanna open a thread about subject matter and apply prefixes of not talking something crucially relative then ok.

To me it's just tantamount to opening a 'state of the garden' thread with the prefix of forgetting about the gardener.

just read the thread, it's been discussed lol

The team is rotten from within. It didn't happen overnight. It's been a sum of little things like the penalty incident with mirallas that was not dealt with properly, distin situation, players openly talking about leaving, handing in transfer requests, players criticising the tactics, manager unable to punish players for the behaviour and poor performances selling bulls.it stories instead, chairman and the board unable to punish the manager for all the above etc

THE CATASTROPHY IS WRITTEN ALL OVER !!!!!

Titanic is sinking and the orchestra plays on pretending everything is ok !!!

And the fans are unable to put pressure on players, manager and the board

I am not going to blame the players for something that I have been guilty of myself.
You were a professional footballer?

I hate Martinez, I hate the players, I hate everything after that slow motion car crash today. There's no way that "poor atmosphere" can be blamed for them not giving it all. I assume as a kid you weren't dreaming of reading memos going to meetings and filling out order forms (whatever you really do, apply that) but most professional footballers have dreamed of achieving the position they're in so like @USABlue mentioned regards Draymond Green's comments about basketball they should be giving their all regardless of how down people are or how much they dislike the manager.

If you were going to, don't bother with the "they're human too" excuse either. Most humans don't make even 5% of their annual salary, nevermind endorsements, some in extreme poverty even have the joy and effort literally scavenging through trash heaps so anyone who cba running full tilt for 90 minutes once or twice a week needs to be fired immediately / sold to the highest bidder.

We have been going downhill for sometime now and losing has become a habit. There is no chance of winning the semi-final with Martinez in charge. It's difficult to say who could manage the players at such short notice but Unsworth would be my choice.

I haven't read all the thread but once you're out there on the pitch you have to give a 100% no matter who the manager is or the tactics or lack of them are. There are players who aren't doing that and they should hang their heads in shame and not try to gain support by kissing the badge. I don't want that I want 100% and if they do that I'll be happier.
In justification of some players who must be sitting at home not able to get on the bench they must be thinking WTF. Some of the young lads coming through who are performing in the U21's must be saying when do I get a chance.
People are saying he's lost the players did he ever have them.
To play like they did last night is unforgiveable.
I don't know what else to say the frustration humiliation and hurt are still fresh from last night but as a loyal fan, supporter, customer or whatever you want to call us it just isn't good enough. Maybe the word is mug because I'll be there Saturday.........

The manager is responsible for coaching, motivating and giving the team guidance before, during and after matches.

When you have a manager who has lost the backing of the team, one who plays a recently returned left back at right back, one who continually has a player on the bench that he declares to be not match fit, one who spouts utter cr@p in the media etc then you have a team that has no motivation.

90% of the current debacle of Everton matches is simply down to piss poor management, that rests with Martinez, that he's been allowed to continue after some of the truely awful matches and rhetoric is simply down to the board.

Should he be gone before the semi final, absolutely, who do you replace him with? Someone who knows what it means to play with passion in the blue jersey, someone who could get some belief and fire in the belly, my vote is with Big Dunc as caretaker till the end of the season then look for a replacement. Man U did it with Giggs and it worked a treat.

Everton legend Alan Stubbs has told talkSPORT the increasing pressure onRoberto Martinez is unfair and that the players should be taking more responsibility for their recent form.

Angry Supporters have urged the club to give Martinez the boot after a run of inconsistent results and dreadful defensive displays.

The mid-table Toffees have won just twice in their last ten Premier League games, and their dire run of form hit a new low with a 4-0 defeat to Liverpool in Wednesday's Merseyside derby.

While there are no doubts about their attacking strength – Romelu Lukaku has scored 18 league goals so far this term – their defending has seen them drop more points from winning positions than any other team in the top flight.

But having seen his defensive options ravaged by injury, with Phil Jagielka, Seamus Coleman and young stand-in Tyias Browning all currently on the sidelines, ex-defender Stubbs insists the under-fire boss is not fully to blame and has told fans: ‘It is NOT the time to start pointing fingers!’

Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, Toffees hero Stubbs said: “There’s been a bit of discontent of Merseyside for a number of weeks now, the fans have not been too happy.

"But when you look at the red card last night [Ramiro Funes Mori was sent off for a nasty challenge on Divock Origi], it was a naughty tackle and they’re the kind of decisions that, as a manager, you can’t envisage.

“You want the players, especially the senior players, to take responsibility. This is potentially the best group of Everton we’ve seen in the last ten or 15 years, and they need to pull themselves together now.

“Everton are a fantastic club, they’ve got fantastic support and the fans are very knowledgeable, they’re not soft.

“The one thing they expect as a given is for the players to go out there and give 100 per cent every week. It’s a proud club with a proud history, and it’s up to the players to make the fans proud

“This isn’t a time for pointing fingers, it’s a time for coming together. I think that’s the most important thing.

“At times like this it is very easy to point the finger and lay the blame, and it always comes to the manager’s door.

“But as players you have to look at yourself in the mirror and say to yourself, ‘am I doing everything I can possibly do?’

“If the answer to that is ‘yes’, then fair enough. But if the answer is ‘no’, you’ve got to do something about it.

“The players just need to respond now. It’s as simple as that.”

nit picking here but phrases like that annoy me. Won 2 out of their last 10? Wonderful.
Try being more realistic and saying won 3 of their last 17 games?

I said after the arsenal game that it was the most frightening performance i have seen from an Everton team, the teams which were actually fighting relegation had more fight and desire about them.

Last night was just as bad, they had a shot every 2.5 minutes... we had 3 all game. with none on target...

There is a complete lack of fire or fight or desire, and the players share a lot of that blame, but i don't exactly see martinez lighting a fire up their arses to get them going. Uncle Bobby conforms to the "gentleman club" ideology.

I REALLY want a snide of a manager the players are scared of to put a foot wrong.

only two players have a good season i would say barry and lukaku and lukaku done nothing the last month or so poor season jimmy mc is trying but not playing well too many hiding, we got 4th place with much worse players but they knew what it ment to wear the shirt
